Why is Teemo hated?

Ok. Preface. Maybe this is a stupid question. I've only been on League for a little over two years, never really contributed to the boards, and I've only seen a handful or so of comments from other players on certain aspects of the game. This question is ~~probably~~ going to make me seem like a troll but I promise I'm not. Deep breath With that being said. Why do y'all hate Teemo? I reached Mastery 5 with him today and he's so fun. I'm serious. He may be a no-skill champ but there's something so satisfying about his Q and R. I love his shrooms; they're pretty much my favorite League ult. There's probably one that I like more, but for the sake of this post, I'm going to say his is my favorite ult. Anyway...I really am curious. Is it that his Q is annoying to other people? Are his shrooms irritating? Does the fact that he's pretty much invisible for a good chunk of the game make him so frustrating? Is it a combination of these 3 things? What is it that makes Teemo, the adorable little hamster/gerbil/whatever, so despicable? Please let me know. Sincerely, ~~A soon-to-be-with-the-release-of-his-new-devil-skin-Teemo main~~

His Shrooms used to hurt a lot harder and last a lot longer.

Every step you took was a gamble, with the price of winning being nothing and the price of losing being 75% your health bar, and there is nothing you can do about it.

item 2043 s help, sure, but you can only have so many of those around.

Besides that, his early poke is incredibly annoying, and his Q makes him able to win every duel in certain matchups.

It's not about Teemo himself but what Teemo himself symbolises as a champion. Many remember him for his unfun gameplay, his global taunt bugs, his highly inconvenient mushroom placement, his stealth ambushes where he just sits there for ages and his annoying harass. Often when someone is killed by Teemo, he doesn't feel outplayed or even sometimes feel cheated when facing a teemo.

Of course he isn't the most frustrating to play against but whenever someone talks about frustrating or annoying champions the first champion think of is Teemo due to his long history.

Two major factors. He is unpleasant to play against. He looses game. He is just a pretty bad pick and i guess, he requires a specific team to fit well. After all he is AP squishy on top lane...Its just not how the meta works. Even conventional burst mages can hardly work within a regular team if played top. Or maybe most of the players that play him have a wrong approach, because there is a certain way to play him in order to be efficient for your team, similar to Singed issue.

idk tbh, he's not completely brain dead like darius who is super easy because you need to know how to kite and know your limits, at least the way i play him, i never use my passive to not be called bad, i'm level 6 teemo almost 7 but idk, he can be countered easily imo

I can understand the hate to some extent but to be fair there are more annoying champions. The Teemo hate is overrated and rose up due to memes. People are dumb enough to hate something because it is cool to do so... This is why in games you will find people with lame generic reasons to hate him, or no reasons at all; in many games I get the hate only because they are dumb enough to follow a bandwagon. Don't bother asking them why, they themselves don't have the answer. They only allowed themselves get to have their tiny brains molded by the system. So I suggest you don't mind haters, mute them and play your game.

Its mostly memes, but there are several reasons:

He use to be stronger (his R had a 80% AP ratio, versus the current 50%, and had something like 600 base damage fully leveled versus the current 450). It was heavily nerfed in season 4 when they removed oracles and made it so you can only have one (visible) pink per a player- there was a small period before the nerfs and after the vision changes where he was an absolute terror because there was basically no way to clear the fields.
He is one of the original champions, and was one of the most annoying to deal with at launch. There are worse champions now, but most are significantly newer than Teemo.
There was some...controversy regarding his origin and allegations that Riot stole his design from a community creation on a Dota board (which was owned by Pendragon, an early Rioter who had a high level community relations position- I'm not sure if he still works for Riot) before LoL's launch. Many people have forgotten/ignorant about that though as time marches on.

He's a ranged toplaner with constant DoT on every auto, has stealth which makes it easy for him to hide right under your nose in the case of a gank unless you see the bush he goes into and have skillshots or pinks/etc, the blind mechanism is annoying as hell because most toplaners rely heavily on autos, he does a lot of damage if you don't get MR, and his shrooms everywhere pretty much make it mandatory to get sweepers, because even if they don't do damage, the vision they provide + slow is irritating.

It's because his Q ruins a lot of AA dependent tops like Jax and Tryndamere, and coupled with his poison, speed boost, and ability to make a garden, people just find him irritating to deal with, despite a simple, 450G fix called Null-Magic Mantle. Plus, he can often protect his own lane from ganks, which is a bonus and a guaranteed rough day for his opponent.
