Question on new season

I wanted to wait to for dynamic queue again and to just give it a little time before I play any more ranked games, so I'm delaying placement. But since season started and I'm still technically "unranked", I've been getting people who are unranked as well, as in they never played a ranked game or have never finished placements even in preseason. Also, some people in bronze. Does stayed unranked do that until I finish my placements?

I was silver 2 before the season started, so I'm confused as to why I'm being paired with people like this. My winrate's an absolutely mess now.
