Anti-cheater banwave incoming

Hey all,

Just wanted to give you all some visibility on a wave of bans we have incoming for cheaters in League of Legends. Up front: it's always a challenge communicating about our anti-cheat efforts, due to the fact that we don't want to tip off potential cheaters as to our tactics (they are many!) and when we'll be taking action.

That said, this is an issue we're passionate about tackling and, while we can't be super transparent in this space, we wanted to at least show we care a great deal about preserving the competitive integrity of League. We're going to continue ramping up our anti-cheating efforts for the future and, even if you don't hear from us, we hope you don't take our silence for inaction.

Riot, I have a list of confirmed cheaters for you to ban. Just check every loss on my match history.

I think it this is a safe question:

Is the ban wave going to hit bots? Some people have been very vocal about wanting something done about the bot situations in Twisted Treeline and Dominion, and I'm sure they want to know if this is the fix they're hoping for or if another team is working on that.

Could you release something like numbers of total bans and then break it down to categories. It would be really interesting to see if they were hacking, scripting, or dropping games. Also The elos that this was happening at.

Hey Cluvie, I know Riot is trying to hide the 'cheats' so they aren't used in the masses, but was hoping I could ask a question about what constitutes cheating.

Is there a page dedicated to what you consider 'cheating?'
I know some users (I haven't myself) have used macros (one key press, spells/actions). Is this considered cheating?
Is there anything I should be careful with, or should I feel fine as long as I'm not intentionally cheating/exploiting the game?

Number three might be silly, but some devs are cruel when users think they found a strategy over a glitch/bug. Some are obviously apparent, others not so much. But I have a feeling Riot is super lenient in this case. I just felt like asking regardless.

I'm curious to know, what do you define as cheating? How does one cheat at League of Legends?

Like do you mean smurf accounts?

I got banned wrongfully because it said that I was using 3rd party programs even though I don't have any programs installed on my computer except skype and a music program for school. Even then, I'm only allowed to play league on my 7 year old laptop because in order for me to play league, the client has to be the only thing running in the background or else the frames drop so bad, you can't move and it eventually will kick you out of the game and you have to keep joining back in. I am currently diamond 5 and I guess i'm being accused of using such program to manipulate the "advantages" as quoted from the email given to me. Umm, these past 3 years that I've played, i used programs to get my rank? Can a riot member respond to this, i can barely play with decent fps settings in-game as it is...

@Riot,

Good! but one more time you target wrong cheating tool. redacted is almost dead. If you wanna give us a quality, then clear scripters from redacted.

Today, most of scripters use redacted. If you decide to target redacted, you will find interesting things.

For me, this is not even a banwave. I didnt saw anyone got banned from biggest community which is redacted. Just 300~ bans from redacted.

As i said, redacted is dead. Low Community (it was big months ago), all scripts are broken. If you wanna clean this game then focus a bit redacted.

What kind of ban will it be? Will it be a perma-ban? a X amount of days ban? will priority queue be included as well?
