Regarding the most recent ban wave for unauthorized Third-Party Applications

Hey all —

We are aware of the recent outcry regarding being banned for usage of unauthorized Third-Party Applications. We hear you and have reviewed the most recent actions. We were able to verify the concerns that the community has raised here on the forums as well as reports we received from the Player Support team that let us know something seemed off with the last ban wave. After a deep dive into the actions over the last few days, we were able to identify a mislabel in the system. This led to a few accounts being incorrectly identified as cheating. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that may have been caused.

What are we doing? If the account was incorrectly mislabeled, we will be unbanning the account — an email notice will be sent to the registered email address letting you know that the account was unbanned. As of this post, all accounts that were overturned have been unbanned and emails sent to their accounts.

You guys gonna tell us what triggered it?

Even if you're fixing it now, it's things like this that make me lose faith in your company. There's really no excuse for a banwave to fuck up this bad. Not when your company makes as much money as they do.

And there's also no excuse for your policy of copy/pasting the "bans will be reversed never, we can't provide evidence, etc" text. Especially after so many mistakes have been made, now AND in the past. Remember that guy who made like 20 tickets and 10 forum posts about his wrongful ban before someone FINALLY looked into it? (You ended up banning the wrong person because they had similar summoner names and your staff isn't trained to copy/paste properly).

If you mistakenly banned someone's account, will a compensation/ apology be given? Like maybe a free random champion thing in hextech? Or like 1k IP or will the person just be left alone with their account?

You were literally sending automatic responses telling people that under NO circumstances will they be given their account back for the third party applications they've been using, and under false pretenses. This is terrible on Riot's end.

Just gonna say, I really applaud Riot here for their responsiveness to the community and their willingness to admit and rectify their mistakes. Legally, they really had no requirement to do this, but it was clearly important to them to make it right. My account wasn't banned, but I sympathize with those whose were, and am really glad to see that this was taken care of.

Thank you, Riot. I can still feel good about playin' my favorite game now. :)

What interests me is how the support, who apparently "checks case every time when they get the ticket from banned person" didn't notice people were wrongfully banned?

If they checked like they had said they did, why and how they didnt see a mistake being made?

It looks like they didn't really check and were just copy pasting the responses without actually going through the reason of permabanning. That's a bigger issue in all this than a minor bug in the system.

as some one who didn't get banned, I think those who was wrongly banned should receive a gift... maybe a special made icon that says "please forgive us - Riot "

Can you guys stay on topic, please? It seems there are people still dealing with this issue and you guys are derailing the conversation.

I am still seeing a fair amount of people saying their account is still banned unjustly. Are we sure that everyone who was falsely flagged and banned has been pardoned? Can we write these people off as desperate scripters trying to ride the coat tails of those of us who were falsely banned and pardoned? Are you looking into these people?

Also, apparently Gosu is banned for scripting. I don't really believe he is a scripter. So, if he is still banned... ?

I guess what I am trying to point out is that some of us were pardoned (including me) and Riot made an announcement. It is unclear how many were affected, how many were scripters, how many were innocent, how many were pardoned. Did they only pardon those of us who spent 5 days spamming tickets into the support system and blowing the boards up? I can't describe how much those 5 days sucked. And I'm not convinced that Riot has solved the whole issue.

Is it possible something like this to have happened in Brazil? Because I am a Brazilian player, and I was banned for this same reason on the Brazilian server, being that I play both servers, American Server whose was not banned.

Please, the Brazilian Community needs an answer
