I have been going to the gym 3-5 days a week. no cardio just lifiting weights. i try and get alot of protein and really try hard to not over eat and to eat things like chicken breast, salads, sand whiches with weat bread and mustard as the only condiement, only drinking water or tea although i am human i have my occasional slip up where i just crave something like taco bell but i try to stay posative and get back on track the next day. this is my first time working out for this long. thanks for the support.

Good job, looks like you've gained a good amount of muscle!

Keep in mind that protein is not a magic nutrient. Your body can't store protein and your body only needs approximately half the number of pounds you weigh in grams of protein per day (e.g. If you weight 208 pounds, you only need ~104g protein in a day. Keep in mind your body DOES NOT store protein. If you eat more than necessary it will expense it as energy at 4Cal/g, or store it as fat). If you insist on eating more protein, make sure to drink plenty of water, as protein that is expended as energy will leave behind nitrogen in your urine.

That said you might want to try out some cardio sometime in the future! Lower intensity/High duration exercises are the best way to burn fat to really get those muscles poppin'!

Incredible work for just two months. Keep at it. Try sandwiches without bread (lettuce is a good substitute) and you'll be able to cut out even more carbs.

I'd also recommend doing some cardio on its own or alongside a lifting session. Additionally, try to eat 4-6 smaller meals a day with a relatively large breakfast to start each morning. I'd be happy to chat with you more about nutrition, I've been lifting since I was in my early teens. Feel free to add me if you want to talk more.

Cool, but very disturbing that you put the after photo on the left. Very disturbing.

exactly what i was thinking.

At first I though that you took photo before you started playing LoL and then after. Showing how much you have gained. And I was like: "g8 r8 m8" but then I realised what it is and was little bit dissapointed.

Are you happy?

If so, congratulations. If not, then that's a real pity.

I don't necessarily consider losing weight on its own to be a good thing since I've known a few people who have ruined their life becoming obsessed with fitness and letting it change them in a bad way... but if it has improved your lifestyle or made you happy, then that's fantastic.

I don't even know where to begin...there is nothing in that photograph that shows obsession. Nor would seven weeks indicate the same.

I wasn't implying he was. I was just saying that it's a risk, and hence why I asked 'are you happy?'

If the answer is yes, then that's fantastic.

But weight loss itself is not a goal, the lifestyle that weight loss allows is the goal. If losing weight makes you happy and helps you live a fulfilling life, then that's fantastic... but if losing weight requires you to sacrifice everything that gives you joy, it's probably not worth it. That's all I was implying there. Too often I see people focus on the weight loss itself as the goal, which is simply not the way to go - it's a path to rebound.

Doing good, but you have to do some cardio. Building muscle is good, it helps you lose weight while your sitting around doing nothing but Cardio burns alot more fat. You can lift weights till you are blue in the face but if you want your muscles to actually show and get rid of fat on top of the muscles then you need to add cardio. You will see twice the difference in half the time if you do both.

Phreaktastic1 votes

This is incorrect. Lifting while taking in required macro and micro nutrients for your goal weight is more effective than cardio. Also, most cardio work outs will have negative effects (running is very hard on your knees for example). Lifting is not just a matter of bulking, you can easily cut while lifting and lose body fat. You just need the right intake. Lifting as a whole is better for you than cardio anyway. Squatting, for example, helps keep your back aligned.

when cutting you dont need cardio at all. it can actually have a negative effect by eating up your resources you would use for building muscles. as long as i have a calorie deficit and im lifting i will lose weight and build muscle pretty fast.

You can't build muscle in a calorie deficit.

This. Lifting and cutting cals is a good way to just be tired all the time. Eat well (healthy fats and proteins you don't need shakes) and you'll do fine.
