Boots make you faster?

{quoted}

A properly fitting pair of boots will in fact make you faster when covering terrain the boots are designed for.

A properly fitting pair of magic boots will make you faster regardless of terrain.

This. If you are walking in your house on carpet boots might slow you down by some negligible amount because of the added weight(might not even be enough to matter). But if you were on rough terain where if you were bare foot you would have to watch your step to protect your feet or somewhere that more traction is needed boots are going to speed you up significantly. And in some cases enable you to go places you otherwise couldn't.

The real question is why do you run faster with a knife in your hand?
