Why do you lose LP in ranked games if someone on your team goes AFK?

I've seen hundreds - if not thousands of threads about this. Why is it taking so long for Riot to handle this?

A 4v5 is not something you should lose LP for. Simple as that.

I'm not even talking about feeders. That's a different kind of shitty luck that I'm fine with. At least they can play.

A 4v5 should result in a loss prevented. It will alleviate so many headaches.

The reason is because it would be too easy to abuse. Perhaps 2 people duo queue, and one will afk out to help the other not lose LP on a losing game. OR on the off chance that ONE player does not mind losing LP for afking (if that was put in place) and will afk to help the others not lose LP.

The battle between being completely fair, while keeping these rulings from being abused is a very fine line, and RIOT will almost always side on the err of caution (as they should).

Everyone has the same chance as you to have an AFKer on their team, and it sucks. Just report them and move on.

You have to consider that that AFKer is actually more likely to be on the opponents team (unless they afked because someone was toxic) then your own because you are getting 4 randoms and the other team is 5 randoms so if you didn't loss LP for an AFK it would only be fair if the wining team didn't gain LP, in which point the game should just end when someone DC's. which would be WAY too easy to exploit.
