Regarding verbal abuse, I want a nuclear option

I know some of you guys must have thick skin, and think this complaint is unwarranted, but being verbally attacked really sucks all of the fun out of this game and has the potential to ruin my mood for the night. Anyone who has played for a significant amount of time in solo queue has undoubtedly experienced the same.

Now, I'm no fool. I know that chat can have a strong affect on me, so I play with my profanity filter enabled and disable enemy team chat. It's still not enough. What I am asking for is the ability to suspend all chat features with a menu option and hotkey combination, including lobby chat afterward. For me, it would me the difference of enjoying my time playing league versus feeling like garbage for the rest of the night. Thanks.

Upvoted. This is a reasonable request. If muting offenders is part of the toolbox for dealing with verbal abuse, that tool should be easily accessible.

RITO just needs to start really punishing those who are toxic. It's not rocket science. It can be done. Right now LoL has one of the most toxic and unfriendly environments I've ever seen in any community, online or otherwise. It is sad, because the game is fun. Why RITO lets the few ruin the majority's enjoyment is beyond me. Pretty soon, I may just up and quit due to RITO's lack of action on this issue. I know many others who have already; maybe it's time to join them.

The best I can offer is the /block option. I don't know if it can be applied to multiple players at a time, but it does prevent you from seeing post-game chat.

I agree the social component needs to be kept in but in solo cue short of removing all talk i don't think the verbal abuse will ever really stop. Riot wont do anything that will stop it sadly so best bet i to just tap the mute button on the tab screen when they get mouthy

Agreed.

I have been forever told ingame communication can easily be done through pings alone, so the chat should be a voluntary option.

It's true, lol has the worst community I have ever seen, certainly down there with CoD.

It's much worse than DotA2, I will say it, LoL is more fun than DotA, I genuinely prefer the gameplay, but the community is utter garbage.

Relax don't take anything personal while playing. This is meant to be fun :)

It's funny because it's usually people like you who are overly sensitive and short-tempered that I have to mute. A general rule for solo queue: /mute all.

It's not like anyone ever says anything even close to useful until Diamond III-ish.

I totally understand, but disagree. It's like asking for the invisible online option. We don't want to blow up the social component. We want to make it better and having a menu item to mute everyone is not the solution.

Having said that, I hate spam, swearing and racism too. I just mute everyone when necessary.
