On first back, you have options of what to buy. If you go 
, you get some minimal armor and Zed can just shove the lane against you and roam. If you get 
, you have no defense for Zed's very high damage poke.
Meanwhile, all Zed has to do is brainlessly build 
and lane is over.
Zed can be easily shut down by many of the currently popular midlaners if he Is continuously harassed pre level 3 without pushing the lane. Even from lvl 3-5 it's not that hard since all you have to do is keep your distance and if he throws his shadow just dodge the Q. Ofc people go nuts about zed but that's mostly seen at low elos were people just stand still and expect everyone to miss.
