How do people feel about Blind Pick?

Personally I play a lot of Blind Pick with friends, it's just the go-to. But, something I've noticed and get mildy annoyed by, is that people seem to love playing the OP champs in blind pick. I've seen it before, but especially with Skarner right now.

I can understand that, well he's not banned, if you hate him so much play draft and ban him. But that's not the point, I don't mind facing him once in a while, but when it seems like people are playing blind pick just so that they have the chance to play the OP champ, I find it weird. Like, you aren't getting LP, you aren't achieving anything by this win, or aren't losing anything by this loss. Play someone fun, or new to you, or something other than a champ whose only identity right now is "stupidly broken".

I know a lot of you guys on the boards mostly play Ranked, maybe don't even care what goes on in normals, but I'd like to know how other people feel about this phenomenon. Is this something that people try to avoid, by plying Ranked, or draft? Or do you guys also just play the OP champs? I'm curious.
