The Wonder Above

There's a lot of speculation going around about the latest teaser, "The Wonder Above" which features a Bard telling the stories of different Constellations. Here's what I got out of it:

  • Each of the Constellations features a place in Valoran (and a game event)
  1. The Frozen Watcher - Freljord, Freljord event
  2. The Fall of Shurima - Shurima, Ascension Event
  3. The Shattered Crown - Shadow Isles, The Harrowing (Crown of the Ruined King?)
  4. The Mountain Shrines/Great Caretaker/Bard - ??? these shrines can be seen all over Summoner's Rift (not sure if it's on Live, but it was on PBE)
  • The people in the teaser live in "floating villages", above the clouds, where they can clearly see the constellations in the night sky This makes me think of Mount Targon. The Solari worship the Sun, the Lunari worship the Moon, now this champion could focus on the stars. The people of Targon are also very rooted in tradition, so passing on stories is important. "Floating villages" could be a name for a village atop the mountain, not literally floating. Targon is an area that hasn't been explored, and Riot has been expanding on other areas of the world (namely the ones in the previous constellations), and a Rioter (I can't remember which one) recently said that Mount Targon should be expanded on.

  • However, the clothing seems to point towards Ionia, which is another possibility.

It seems kind of obvious that the new champion will be a support (what game has bards that aren't supports?), but it seems like he won't be a traditional bard with a harp or lyre, and instead will use stories and constellations for his abilities.

Since the three constellations before the Bard have something to do with expanded lore of certain areas in Valoran that also came with an event, it seems that wherever this new champion is from will also come with an event and expanded lore.

What do you guys think? Mount Targon or Ionia? Personally I hope it's Targon.

I think mount targon because

freljord and shurima had events what do these 2 lands have in common when it comes to gameplay? they both have support items freljord has the frost queens shurima has the talisman of ascension and that means there is 1 support item left the targon's brace which represents Mount Targon

Some great ideas here, however using the advantage of the image given. Neither Mount Targon nor Ionia are elegable. carefully study the landscape, "Snowy slopes, cold winds, and scarce sources of food makes Mount Targon a harsh landscape for survival." although there are clearly shrubbery growing all across the "Mountain Shrine" so the "Mountain Shrine" must reside somewhere else, and Ionia has a higher chance of being a location for the shrine, however the plantlife and mountains are far more diverse than what you would see in the image given. I believe the most likely scenario is that the image is resident in the Tempest Flats, the is no lore or words to back this up, but because the landscape in Valoran is so diverse the only location with flat top mountains are located in the Tempest Flats.

Quick Note on development on these theorems:

-The first constellation resembles Aatrox's stained glass art. (http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/attachment.php?attachmentid=1034648&d=1407001202)

-"Look toward the Frozen Watcher" Notice how Riot said "Frozen Watcher" although there are known to be three watchers? added on there are 3 types of arm patterns (one set of arms with 1 ring)(one set of arms with 2 rings)(one set of arms with no rings) Could the "Frozen Watchers" be one?

That is all i've really have on the last 2 hours i've spent researching, thanks for reading love to see ideas develop!

Its also possible that the new champion is not a bard. The bard is a story teller, keeper of legends, etc. It could very well be possible that the bards are only introduced to be our guide through some legends that lead up to the new champion...

Ionia is still a strong possibility, and in some of his original teaser lore, it was stated, "Legend holds that when Ionia faces its greatest crisis, Ao Shin will descend from the sky."

It was also talked about by RIOT I think that Ao Shin was probably a waaays off. This was in 2013, and they speculated 2015...

My suspicion (and hope) is that the "bards" introduced in this little show are simply a way to introduce us to the (now brushed up, its been 2 yrs) Legend of Ao Shin.
