Hextech Redundancies

So this hextech gig is fun, no doubt. It gives experienced summoners something "tangible" to work toward across multiple matches. But why do I get champion shards if I own every champion? Could I get skin shards for skins I already own? This system is supposed to be a cool bonus icing-on-the-cake flavor for us summoners. My cake is chalky. I'll keep jumping on the treadmill to earn my next slice, though. Is it so unreasonable to have some algorithm detect what items a summoner has already unlocked and to not rng those items from a box? I just opened a Nasus shard, a champion I mained and got bored with over 4 years ago. Free is free, I get that, and am thankful; but this has me reflecting sourly on the past week of earning box and key. Maybe this belongs in the same thread as "I own every champion so I spend my excess IP on changing my summoner name too often".

Thanks

That's the thing. If they actually did that kind of thing, You WOULD only bee getting Skin's, and that looses Riot money. With the current way its in place, its fair to literally everyone, from New Accounts, Smurf Accounts, and Veterans. Go look at CS:GO. I've gotten many of the same crappy ass skin's in that. Does the system know? Probably but that's the loot table and it don't play favorites.

That's just my opinion on it. I feel for ya though that your rewards always end up being nothing good. To bad you couldn't gift that stuff away to random players. Have a bunch of ready to unlock champs you can give away to good players or newbies who need a little help getting a champ to play. Be neat.
