While I understand the logic you're putting forward, there's no reason people shouldn't be able to express how they feel about this feature release. It's optional content, yes, but it can still feel manipulative to the consumer.
This particular example is Riot's first foray into the world of forced bundling/tying, and it's not well regarded as being a particularly consumer-friendly tactic. Think about cable companies bundling all their prime channels together even though you just want Discovery or ESPN. No one is forcing you to pay for it, but it's still not a particularly great feeling to be buying that service.
