This has been discussed widely enough in the past. My stance on the matter is:

  • You want to give it all to win and find a coordinated team? Ranked is your place.
  • You want to take it easy without sweating 7 shirts but still trying to win? Go Normals, it will be fine.
  • You are high/drunk/don't want to win and just try crazy things or just putting not effort at all? Go vs AI or gtfo this game.

It's not only your fun theat matters in a team game, PvP is still a competitive environment in the terms that you are supposed to collaborate with your team and try to win. If you want to mash bottons and try AP Sion or Mana regen Gnar you can go vs AI and have all the fun you want.

Edit: Wanted to add, out of meta picks are fine in Normals and even some crazy picks but if you still play to help your team and try to make things work. Being an out of meta pick shouldn't be an excuse for poor performances so you might want to try it in TB before blind/draft pick.

Serious enough to do your absolute best in ranked. I don't consider being toxic or raging a side effect of taking it too seriously as much as just being an asshole.

I hate people who try hard in normals and blame their team mates for having fun or for making mistakes, if you want to win so bad go play ranked.

Alot of players I see take raging and trolling seriously and put no serious energy into playing the game as a team

100% yes.

People forget this is a game. While I take ranked seriously in the way that I try to win, I think people treat it like their will be real life implications from losing a game and don't allow themselves to just enjoy it.

No doubt people take things too seriously. Like the people I see whining for not getting the champ they wanted in all for one, or dodging in aram after complaining about the random champ they got, and so on. It is like people come to LoL to be all competitive and super cereal, and forget it is a game, then play something else for "fun". I just don't get the point of treating it like that.

Ranked is where you should be serious about the game. Normals however, is a different world. Normals, it does not matter if you win or lose. Normals is where you go to do lux/morgana bot. Normals is where you go to try out ridiculous builds/champions/duos. Because it just does not matter if you lose. It isnt ranked, you dont get punished for losing 10 games in a row, you just lose and whoop dee do. I dont understand people who get soooo pissed off in normals. And its usually people who are too trash to play ranked so they go suck in normals. LOL.

Any game and any mode that contains real people with real time and their own way about how they feel, should be played the way it was intended to be played by the developer.

However, you will have a multitude of sheep that will always tell you their feelings and they are 100% wrong when taking "the way the game was intended to be played" into account.

Fact is these idiots who made their own rules about how each mode should be played are the dumbest of them all and are also the ones who cause most of the toxicity in this game.

By saying it's just a game you are saying that I do not care about the other players in your game and hence should not be playing the game in the first place because you made your own rules, and those 100% wrong rules affect other people that play the game the way it was intended to be played.

You should take ranked a little serious

Normals however... heh

How can you take a teemodinger botlane serious?
