People are used to the way things are, I looked up chicago and did a speed test and I'm getting 70 ping when I usually get 20. People on the east side are now getting 25-35 ping. And how is chicago centralized when it's clearly in the eastern side of the country. I live in the Seattle area this server transfer is doing nothing but swapping ping between coast to coast.

This right here! i live in Hawaii and had 90 ping. now its up to 120. its still playable for me, so people on the Mainland should still have better ping. its great that people are going to be able to play better because of the ping issue. Plus people make like this is the final transfer theyll ever going to do. im sure when the time comes we will all be able to play with low ping. its a change that will hopefully change better as time goes on!

I never said they should stay at 100 but now they are getting 25-30 like we on the west coast used to. Now west coast is getting 70-90 Why can't we find a place where everyone get's around 40-50?

Ping isn't everything nor has it ever been the true measure of good internet. anyone that knows better doesn't believe the lies isp's tell you when they have you run a ping test to their servers. You have packet loss, ping, hops and many many other factors that determine how good your internet is. I used to play CS competitively on both California and Chicago servers and on some servers Chicago I had a much more reliable gameplay experience.
Go check out hosting servers locations and you'll see the top ones are only in about 12 locations in the US and if you look at infrastructure Chicago is one of the best in the US for internet backbone. Try doing some research on it all before commenting again so you'll be better informed next time.

And Chicago is centralized because it's a major internet backbone hub. Do an image search for "Internet backbone map USA" and take a look - Chicago is in the center of everything, with near-direct optical connections to pretty much every other backbone city in the nation.
Geographical location isn't nearly as important to data speeds as the number of "hops" a packet has to make to get from point A to point B.

i was up to 160 or higher ping, right now i'm sitting at a very comfortable 72-80. I live on the east coast and i'm thankful for riot giving me a chance, to play on equal terms with everyone else for a change instead of lagging behind. the fact that you don't want the playing field to be equal speaks volumes to your character you're a greedy mf, and you don't like the fact that east coast players have better ping.

People on West Coast get 40-50 ping to Chicago on average. If you're getting 70 ping then it's because your ISP is shitty.
I mean sure, it might have been better to move it to Kansas City or something to get the best possible balance, but I'm sure Riot had their reasoning.
I know for a fact that Chicago has pretty good internet infrastructure, so maybe it's the most "central" city that's least likely to have lag spikes from all the additional traffic. Would you rather have lower ping with EUW-style lag spikes or would you rather have slightly higher ping that's stable? I'd personally pick the stable higher ping every time.
Unless you're Challenger, 70 ping is going to have very little effect on your gameplay. Maybe a few things like ward hops are going to be a little harder, but if people from OCE could ward hop on 250 ping when we were on your servers, then you can cope with 70 ping.

Players in Hong Kong could play on NA just as well as some of the people on the East Coast despite being more than twice the distance over an ocean away. Why? Because of the infrastructure and the giant, high tech better-than-fiber-optic undersea cables directly connecting them to the west coast.
It's a good thing that it's in Chicago. The lower pings are going to go a lot further than if they were in Kansas City.

First one from my history is one of the more negative threads, but even here you see people from California and Seattle with 50 ping to Chicago. That's not "no-one". It seems more like you have a shitty ISP and you're blaming it on location.

Physically, it's possible to have a ping of 20 (10ms each way) from Los Angeles to California (speed of light 299,792.458km/s divided by 2811km). Realistically it'll never happen because there's no direct wire from your home to Riot's new servers.
Anyway, you're making this sound like a prediction. These pings have already been measured. Why don't you check out that thread, some people are reporting 50 ping to Chicago from California.

all i am seeing are posts for cali bitching about 90 ping to Chicago, which is what i called. The lowest i saw was someone saying that they got 63 from Sacramento; which is barely below the 70 threshold that riot set.
Go back to your boards and deal with your own server. This is a NA issue not a OCE one. Your input is not wanted nor even close to insightful.

To be honest I'll sit here and argue all day with spoilt west coasters because they're whining about 50-70 ping when the east coast was 100-130 ping before this. Also, I spend plenty of time playing with friends on NA so it's not like I'm not part of this community as well. Do you think I'm happy going from 240 to 290 ping when I want to play with my NA friends? Of course not, but the server move is the right choice.

Now, I am eager to see what it will be to have normal pings on evenings. ^^
And sorry but I don't want the servor to move to Kansas City or somewhere in the mid-west where tornados are common. Yeah, we can't play League of Legends anymore because the servor been destroy by a tornado. XD
