So I saw a post about who your first champion was so I thought about making one about your favorite champion. Now, this question has two categories; your favorite to play and your favorite in lore. I'll start us off in the comments below.
Favorite champion to play would be either

, depending on the lane. I love Lux's combo (it feels so good when you pull it off!), and I love Nami's heal bounces. :3
Lore wise, I'd probably have to go with 
. That may be partially because I used to keep tarantulas, and also had a black widow named Elise. :D
Favorite to play: 
Cue the cannonballs and the hearty pirate laughter.
Favorite Lore: 
It's beautifully tragic. The story of a man's quest for justice and overcoming his own thoughts and resolve. Honorable mention is Quinn and Valor.
My favourite by gameplay is probably
simply because he's a badass; he was my first and I've always loved his kit (and the feeling of landing a W and demolishing the enemy.
My favourite by lore is also because he's a badass.

BONUS: The champion I hate most is 
. That annoying fish leaves no counterplay and it deals SO MUCH damage with INVULNERABILITY(E). A similar skill is 's Rappel(invulnerability and a gap closer), but it deals NO damage and its range is visible to enemies.
My favorite to play is 
. When you feed a , you literally feed him. omnonmnomnom. Lore-wise, I'd have to go with any Voidborn champion. I've always loved the concept of the Void and I wish Riot would do something with it.

Only read a few lore pages. None of it has anything to do with the gameplay, as this is not an RPG, so I don't have a favorite. I'll just say

My favorite champion to play is probably 
Talon. He's so fun to play mid to late game, and despite not having played him recently, I usually have a pretty good time in loaning phase with him. It's funny too, considering I'm a support/jungle main.
As for lore, probably 
Xerath, but with the whole Shurima event going on, I'm not sure I can say that reliably for now... So until I can, I'll say 
** Orianna**, because the idea of losing a loved one and going mad trying to "revive" them was interesting to me.
Nunu

Lissandra is, to me, Riot's greatest success. Her mechanics are amazing (other than her lacklustre passive), her character model and splash art are so elegant, dignified and regal (and beautiful in a "cold and distant" way). She is so satisfying to play no matter what you're building, whether glass cannon or tanky, because her kit just resonates with me so well.
I'm not a fan that Liss is such a stereotypical villain (I would have gone with "neutral hermit witch", but I don't write the lore), but I can easily ignore the lore for such a great champion.

My #2 is Leona, while third place goes to Anivia. I have a thing for ice and CC.
EDIT: My lore favourite is probably Leona. I love that she took a stand for what she believed in, and was willing to pay the consequences of her defiance.

because his lore can have potential, he is a lycanthrope, he is fairly easy champ to play and can fit in many team comps, I love how he plays even though I wish he was more assassin like, and he has a rework coming up so I can try new things with the wolfman. I also really like

My beloved , always. She was the first champion I purchased with RP, and I've been in love with her ever since, both thematically and mechanically. Her insane early pressure and objective control caters to everything I want to do as a jungler, and even constant streams of nerfs (ritoplz) can't force her out of viability.
I've had dalliances with other champions, but at the end of the day, I'll always come back home to her.

She's so fun to use, with that CC and Ebb and Flow (one of my fave abilities!), and not only that: she also has everything a support needs (heals, buffs and crowd control).
Lore:
So if all of your friends, family and people would be in danger if something is not done, what would you do? Nothing? Be feared? Or do something about it? When the Marai are in danger, she decided to save them, even if she needs to face all kinds of dangers. And that's one of the things I like about her.

Mechanically, I am in love with
Her kit has become such second nature that it doesn't feel like "playing" Karma, she feels like an extension of all the effort I put into improving my skills thus far (I am an uncoordinated aging gamer that has clawed his way up to Gold somehow). It's gotten to the point that I can carry with her mid, bully with her top, Jungle Karma, (her ganks are actually insane) and most recently even hybrid carry her out of the bot lane. Every role.
Her lore doesn't line up that much with who I am, but it manages to get me going too- Karma is essentially the hardened victim of widespread cultural rape... And it brings a tear to my eye thinking about such a hardcore pacifist being shattered and recrystallized into such a badass no nonsense force for change and strength. It's like if a yoga instructor responded to the trauma of losing everything by becoming a supreme justice.
She's the reason Ionia is amazing. Noxus will rue the day that they stomped their version of strength onto the clay of that culture, because now they're enlightened AND militant, a scary combination.
Favorite to play, is hilarious and I can never get enough of the things she says, but her kit is just a smidgen outclassed atm. I love and everything she says and does, her kit is very well balanced right now, as are many other mids. Then there's

Favorite lore, kinda hard to decide when every last one is some shade of black. I'd probably have to say 
. Orphan, turned delinquent, turned criminal, turned vigilante, turned law-enforcer. She may be a loose cannon, but her sense of justice is undeniable.
Surprised by all the love. He's always been my favorite and seems like a lot of mid lanes don't know how to play against him because he isn't played very oten.

His playstyle and lore appeal to me. While I look forward to his rework, I hope that not too much is changed about him.
Gameplay wise I love 
, , and . I've found myself really loving champions that micro manage a minion or some other object in their kit. I also love playing them in somewhat out of the box ways. I.e. AD/Armor Pen , Spellvamp , and pure Mana Regen .
Yet on the other hand I also love , , and for the simple fact of love assassins, particularly AD assassins, who jump on someone explode them and then make a flashy or clean getaway. was my first assassins while I gradually learn the other two.
When it comes to lore though anything that comes from the Void has a soft spot in my heart. Just the link between Valoran, Icathia and the Void is just a direction I want Riot to explore more. being my first champion at the same time helped to enthrall me more. Our Void overlords will take over the country one day and I bide my time waiting for them to return.
The next one
Play-wise, Thresh. First champion I bought, knew i'd like him the moment I saw him and never looked back, he's my go-to champ for anything i'm not sure about.
Lore-wise is a bit trickier. I like a lot of the lore around champions, especially Twisted Fate, Cait, and Maokai. I'd say Orianna is probably my favourite though, as she reminds me of the song Mechanical Girl by Voltaire.
