[Idea] The Honor System Summoner Icons

I Don't know whats going on with the Honor System, but i haven't acquired a Ribbon this season despite being honored just about every match in some way or another. (and i have a clean bill of health: Never been banned, etc.) I acquired the Green Ribbon when the Honor System Launched (October, 2012; Post Season 2) and it stayed with me throughout Season 3 but nothing since the Season 4 Resets.

Not like i loose sleep over not getting a ribbon or anything but the points keep adding up and i think Riot can do something with these points we are accumulating.

So i have an idea, how about instead of Ribbon (or ribbons can stay, either way), Issue a Summoner Icon to someone once they hit a certain amount of points. (~300 Points)

They could looks something like these

I don't want to open a huge can of worms in your thread, but I wanted to address a few things. Honor, just at its base mechanics, has a lot of system-breaking flaws.

It's absurdly easy to abuse Honor

  • There aren't any checks and balances (e.g. Tribunal for reporting)

It's basically impossible to obtain a Crest

  • Crests go to the top 20% of players in all queues combined, and the vast vast majority of players with Crests play Co-Op vs AI almost exclusively due to the lack of pressure.

No incentive to give Honor

  • No one gives Honor because there's no reason to give Honor because there's no reward for Honor so no one gives Honor

Honor Crests have very little to do with how honorable a player is

  • This comes back to the first point, you can have tons of Honor without actually being honorable

The numbers don't relate to the actual value of Honor at all

  • If someone has 300 Honor, it could be worth literally anything. It's calculated based on a ratio of Honor per game as well as changing values depending on the player giving the Honor

"Teamwork" Honor stifles all other forms of Honor

  • Teamwork isn't a personality trait, it's a skill.

Premade honoring makes no sense in its current state

  • Why should we be honoring people in premades? We joined a group with them, isn't it just naturally assumed that we want to play with them?

In my mind, these problems supersede any possible reward system that could be added to Honor due to how significant they are.

my main has a clean record in korea. I held a couple honor badges here and there. Riot doesn't understand how to reward their good behavior players, its kind of obvious tbh. I mean look at the honor system. It might as well not even exist I mean I hardly ever even remember to honor a good player that did well because its just so ignorable.

I'd love for this to happen! But maybe 100 points is better, since no one ever honors me for helpful... EVER! Thos icons are sleek btw. 10/10 would buy

I would love to see the system revamped. For people with a high amount of games already played, it was nigh on impossible to get them. A set number, or at least lower ratio, would be very nice.

The yellow icon isn't really clear on what it's supposed to represent, to me at least. I love the Blue and Red though. Green is kind of a neutral zone.

I love this idea. Its not overly complicated and It would absolutely give players the recognition they deserve for their positive behavior during gameplay

Crests / Ribbons idea

Hi, Im pretty new to the game, and i understand from all sorts of posts that the system is broken and also complicated. I do hope Riot revisits incentives to be positive, and be able to play in a positive environment. I realise that is not always possible, but we can try right? I have wanted to quit because some players have just made playing the game incredibly miserable. One reason i stayed is because I earned a green and blue ribbon. The other is, i have gotten to know people in game that are a positive influence and are generally fun to play with even though it is competitive. In the meantime i think there could be a quick fix that i think would be an effective way to create a more positive outcome. Now to my original post lol.

Crests / Ribbons

I would like to suggest that even if you do lose your ribbon, you have something to show for it.

I have recently lost my blue ribbon and down to green again. I personally don't think my attitude has changed one bit..just people stopped honouring me, probably/maybe because they saw i "had" the ribbon. Now i have nothing to show for it, not a summoners icon or a ribbon on my own profile even at the very least.

Yes i realise this taken from the LoL crest wiki page "Crests are temporary rewards designed to encourage players to remain honorable even after receiving the recognition. As such, they can be lost if players stop acting positively and no longer receive honor. Being punished by the tribunal will also remove all crests from a player, similarly to honour points.” As it probably should stay that way due to people losing their interest in continuing to be honourable

It is a personal achievement, personal honour or pride shall we say, that you have been honoured by your peers/mentors etc... A player should have an achievement on their profile that they had earned this 'colour" ribbon at some point or maybe even the dates in which they had earned them for. they are reminded of it every time they are in their profile they will want to work harder to achieve the goal again.

I may burn badly for this post, but at least my opinion is out there. Have a great day/night. RIOT this one is for you. I also posted this in the forums as well. Ashe

Yeah but then you'd be giving something to a portion of the community that some other portion couldn't obtain. And we don't do that. Even if we have promised it for years.

I admit, that's passive aggressiveness about the RP rewards. Which I didn't think we needed in the first place. But I wasn't the one that kept promising them.

Anyway, that aside, I'm pretty sure this is what it would break down into. You're rewarding a % of people, meaning that other % can't get them. Either everyone can get them or none, and I'm pretty sure the number of games you'd have to play to hit minimum values (due to, ultimately, random chance to be honored unless you're fishing for them) would be unreal for a good portion of people to hit.

Besides, I think the best reward we could get is to place similarly honorable people with other honorable people. Create a toxic hole of doom for queuing.

ps: i accept the future downvotes, I had to get my opinion out there one way or the other. RIP me.
