Secondly...as the portrayed relationships are exactly that, non-sexual (so to not invoke any moderator's wrath), what's wrong with them (albeit with strong undertones)? I cannot really tell if you're being sarcastic or not (this being the internet, and thus missing that vocal part - a rather major part - in the communication), but is there any particular reason why you don't find jokes involving affection and/or intimacy funny?
To be fair, the expression "sex sells" is quite over-used in these internet days, almost to the point of being boring, I will admnit, but still no one is forcing you to read these threads, much less comment in disgust in them.
Sure, you are well entitled to post your views on all this, but voicing objections usually warrant a valid reason. But even with a valid reason or argument, that reason, whilst probably not just yours alone, most likely wouldn't change anything in this case, and so it probably just be best for your sake to just ignore such threads if you find them so offensive.
Please don't get me wrong here, I don't mean any offense to you or your views, I'm just objectively trying to argue that perhaps your opinion won't matter in this. Either treat it like the (im)mature jokes that they are intended as, or leave it be.
EDIT: My brain just did a second take on your exact phrasing. Or am I missing the point completely here? You take offense because the community doesn't treat relationships between friends exactly as that; that they are just friends? You take offense because there is always sexual involvement in them?
Kitty Darkstar1 votesI think that edit sums it up kind of nicely, but the biggest reason I'm offended by it is because I come to the boards to check memes and jokes, and that sort of thing. I get enjoyment out of a good laugh, and I suppose most people do too. But these days, instead of getting a laugh (or even blowing air out of my nose) I get constantly reminded of one of the problems of humanity as I scroll past thread after thread of fanservice and ships. It's not what I'm here for, and if that's all this section has to offer I might as well not even use the boards anymore.

While I don't require or request any sexual jokes, a male brain can usually appreciate them on some level - as you're of the opposite gender, I can see why you find them "illogical" (to put it scientifically). Finding such jokes "offensive", however, is a subjective view, and that's your prerogative, I won't argue on that.
But objectively speaking, I can easily see that it is unfortunate how clearly it is which gender that makes up for the majority of the playerbase here. But then...that's not likely to change, is it? And so, I fear sexual jokes is just something that will dominate these Boards - and the internet - for the forseeable future.
Again, I don't mean any offense here, but I would argue (will be contradictive here, about not arguing against your view, but I just have to get it out now) that perhaps you are taking a too dim view on this, and should learn to have more acceptance for this kind of thing and just ignore sexual jokes if you find them offensive.
To put it this way: I don't understand women - they don't come with a manual, and have so many ways to say "no", even when some of them means "yes", I've totally given up.
And I would be worried if you don't thinks in similar ways about us men.
