The problem is that MF support was amazing and most people don't understand why it was so effective (specific team comp, specific matchup, specific order of abilities to generate synergy with the Ashe, and pro level play). Thus, everyone wants to try it so it was "OP" without putting any thought into it.

At the end of the day, it was a fantastic niche pick by ROX that SKT couldn't answer. I just wish people would try to understand why it was a such a good pick (because then they would realize it isn't a good pick in 99.99999% of situations).

I hate to point this out, but Samsung used it the exact same way as ROX; with the Ashe into the Zyra. Also, there is other overlap as well with ROX/SSG team comps when using MF support. Notice that the team comps bring plenty of utility (in the SSG example below, the Viktor mid brings good CC and the Ekko brings CC and engage).

Ashe + MF into Zyra. That was the entire "deal" about it.

Its not a comp, its not special game play, its just those 3 characters. Then again, NA is so smart, no wonder they finally made it out of groups. Maybe in 5 years you might get to the finals

He didn't pick MissFortune because she's OP, but because her kit was the perfect counter to Zyra . The plant girl has to get somewhat close to do vines, but MF's bullet rain has more range, so Zyra gets slowed & hurt while trying to walk up. Not to mention Ashe and their ults would force a flash out of Zyra, or secure a kill.

I may love playing Leona but she's not good against every comp especially against a Lucian Morgana duo. Someone like Velkoz would be better because despite he's more of a mage, his zoning + pokes would certainly force summons out of the duo. As the OP said, you can be super good at a champion but the final decision should be why you're picking a particular champion for and are the pros outweighing the cons?

Ashe, Zyra and MF. That's 3 out of 10. That leaves 7 characters unaccounted for.

That's not team comp >.> Which is what I'm screaming against that perception that "this only works is super uber spcific match-up".

Its most likely going to work vs other poke type champions on bot lane, but not as well as vs zyra. the end

its a story about 3 characters playing on bot lane, not entire team comps

I did watch it and it was a clone of the ROX setup against a team they didn't need a niche pick to beat. Even though I'm not really a fan of H2K, I really wanted them to pull something out of their asses and win so we didn't have an all Korean final. Granted, I think SSG into SKT is going to be really exciting to watch, it is just disappointing that we don't have two regions represented.

Well, to be honest, Olaf mid is genuinely fun and if one is smart about how they build, it can be surprisingly effective against a wide variety of opponents. Not going to pick it into everything, obviously, you need to balance the needs of your team to prevent enemy snowballing, but Faker did inspire a lot of genuine thought and acceptance, despite that it was a cheeky move against an Irelia.

I was lucky enough to never have an Olaf mid during that. I did play a ranked game with a Kennen ADC on the enemy team who cost his Skarner promos though. Skarner was like 12-1 or something and nobody could really kill him, but Kennen fed then AFK'd so it didnt really matter lol.

I played karma support once and hated her so I didn't touch her for a year and than one day played her mid during an ultimate bravery game and loved her (even if I was AD bruiser karma with ghost and flash)
