Many old champions may not fit into the main meta, but they fit with a select few summoner's play styles. For example, Old Xerath, Old Sion, Old Karma were champions as such. Skarner, Nautilus, Urgot, Diana, Viktor, Hecarim. Characters like these are rarely seen, but surely you've remembered the stomping a good player will give you over the usual Akali/Fizz/Snowball Champion bullshit.
You may not see many of these players, but you can rest assured they'll kick your ass. They know their champion better than anyone else, and the obscurity that comes with it is simply a shroud to hide a sneak attack beneath.
Don't ruin the shroud man. Skarner will do just fine.
