Some goals are actually attainable.
And if you did make Eagle, congrats. It's probably the single most impactful thing you can do before turning 18.
i think you to be at least 18 to get the eagle scout
18 is the hard deadline for reaching Eagle. You can attain it anytime between the first year of middle school and your 18th birthday (some rare exceptions).
Exactly what are we talking about? Real life ranks?
In the boy scouts of america, there are several ranks one can achieve by completing merit badges, displaying outdoor skill, etc. Eagle is by far the hardest one (as it is the highest), and it looks REALLY good on a resume. You actually get instantly promoted two ranks in the military if you have it.
EDIT: To answer your question, yes :)
How does one get Eagle?
Lot's of work. There is also a six-month waiting period between each rank, which prevents you from doing everything at once and obtaining eagle all in one go. First you must achieve the ranks tenderfoot, first class, second class, star, and life. Along with your merit badges, both required and elective, you must complete a city-approved project that helps the community. You must also get a crap ton of service hours...Also, you must spend time in leadership positions.
I just wanted to chime in that to the best of my knowledge there is no rule for a time period between ranks. I achieved both second class and first class on the same day, as I completed all of the requirements at the same time. There is, however, leadership position time required for star, life, and eagle.
I think that's what I was thinking of...because I don't remember having the waiting period between the early ranks either, just the final few.
Alright. Seems like early basic training.
Due to the time requirements, you can't get it before high school. LEadership time requirements and all.
People have gotten it by ages 13 and 14. It just takes a ton of effort and dedication to get it done that quick.
There's a minimum of 1.3 years of straight leader ship time requirements... 14 is possible, but 13 in chronologically impossible.
You can join Scouts at age 11. Even with the leadership requirements, 12 is technically possible.
With the amount of work involved, the only way for that to happen is if the parents to all the work lol
You get kicked out of scouts if you're 18, I think the minimum for eagle is 2 years. still a shitton of work to achieve it.
You don't get kicked out of scouts so much as you become an adult scout. You're still classified as a scout, you just have different responsibilities from the under-18 scouts.
And then there's Venturers and people with disabilities who can get their Eagle after turning 18.
You can get Eagle as early as 13 or so if you live, breath, and eat nothing but scouting for 3 years.
Of course, most (like me) wait until the last minute to get their Eagle.
Some goals are actually attainable.
And if you did make Eagle, congrats. It's probably the single most impactful thing you can do before turning 18.
I can honestly say that getting eagle scout was really not that hard and did not require as much work as people make it out to be, and no I am not trying to say this in an arrogant way, but I am somewhat disappointed at how people view eagle scout as something that's so extremely hard to do when it's not
It's just a work thing. It's not that it's hard, it's that it isn't something you can just do. You've got to put effort into it and take time to completely finish. I believe that it was easy for you, but just because it's easy for you doesn't mean the same for everyone else.
"Anyone can become an Eagle Scout. What makes it so special is that 90% of Scouts are too lazy to actually do it, and 80% of young boys are even lazier and don't even join the Scouts."
- Confucious
I'm dubious about the source of that quote-_-
"The Internet does not lie"
- Attila the Hun
"I think Glory in Death is lying"
"I don't know who you're talking about."
- Glory ln Death
I seriously doubt that Glory in Death said that [slayer-jinx-unamused]
You're right. Glory in Death didn't say that. Glory ln Death said that. (That's "Glory (natural log of) Death")
And if you did make Eagle, congrats. It's probably the single most impactful thing you can do before turning 18.
I don't know about that, you can do a lot of other things before you're 18 that are equally or more impactful. For example, I would argue that some of the projects that the Broadcom MASTERS winners are extremely impactful. The Technology Award winner of 2014 created an automated diagnostic tool for the early detection of lung cancer. All Broadcom MASTERS competitors must be in middle school.
Achieving Eagle Scout, however is something anyone can do. Eagle scout isn't just handed out to the best scout. Anyone can achieve it with hard work.
I would rate joining the military as more impactful, but yes, getting Eagle Scout is a huge achievement.
I may be wrong, but I don't believe you can join the military before turning 18.
You are, but that's ok. It's a pretty common misconception. You can join at the age of 17 as long as you are on track to graduate from high school and your parent/legal guardian signs off on it.
Source: I used to be a recruiter. ;)
Not sure why you're being downvoted, as it's true.
Lol, I dunno. Maybe there's people out there that have something against former recruiters? shrug
Downvoted my other comment too now that I notice it. Probably some anti-military type who thinks that they are saving the world by recycling their plastic bottles.
Eagle Scout > highest rank in the game with the worst online community
Well, if you're Bronze V or higher and suck in every other aspect of life, you can at least take solace that you're better than a faithful, respected servant of the community (at League anyway, you're probably worse at everything else).
You think League is the worst online community? Lol.
You think it doesn't? Lol.
As a CoD player for 10 years, no I don't think it's the worst online community.
As a CoD player, you should know full well it's way worse than this one. It may be a younger audience, but your sole interaction with them is through voice, which the vast majority of them do not have.
Meanwhile, in this game people will stand completely still just to type out that you should kill yourself, uninstall the game, literally get cancer, etc.
I'm sorry do you not receive hate mail in CoD? lol. I'll go destroy some kids and get 3 hate mails a game.
I have over 4k games of just Sum Rift, Norms and Ranked through the years, I still feel League isn't that bad, people blow toxicity out of preportion. That, or I'm just lucky.
CoD has gotten better over the years, but during the CoD4-MW2 Era before parties, or before they were popular, CoD was god awful, would of made League look like a saint. The problem with it now is honestly, it's not that popular anymore. So the people flocked away.
I have 11 PhD's but am still bronze I will never be gud T^T
Wish I stayed unranked.
Tried my hand at ranked flex, what a shit show.
Congrats on Eagle!!
Like Eagle Scout.
But not Challenger.
######I'm still Unranked.
