pffft. that's why i go in backwards. sometimes pants down even.
But then you're still face-checking it.
SHOTS FIRED.
not if i'm bent over.
Your face is still checking the bush first.
it's okay. it's not the first time my buns have been mistaken for my face.
The funny thing is, the note in front of it even warns you of a mimic.
I still checked it because Yolo.
I guessed there were gonna be mimics when I played Dark Souls 2 because I had fought them in other games (Fate, Legend of Grimrock, D&D) and Dark Souls seems like such a game to have such.
I don't know why, but I didn't suspect trapped chests despite that being the more obvious choice and died my first time opening one. True Dank Souls Pro here.
You can also tell they are mimics because of the chain. I think the chain on a mimic wraps forward while a real chest will wrap backwards.
Wasn't it like Mimics not having chains at all and real chests having chains or the other way around? I knew that something was up with the chains though.
Tbh. Shame on me. I never got past the second boss.
A way to tell the difference between a mimic and a normal chest is the chain on the right side of the chest. If the chain is looped, it's a normal treasure chest; if the chain is straight, it's a Mimic. The color shade of the chest is also different, and when looking at it for a while, the Mimic chest breathes and slightly moves. Additionally, the Mimic's tongue and teeth can be seen through the opening gap. (This is more noticeable if you are playing the PC version of the game, modded to run in higher resolutions, such as 1080p.)

Guess we were both wrong. I never got past Ornstein and Smough. I need to start playing again.
If you like Dark Souls type games you should try Bloodborne. It's the same developers but i feel it is a little easier than Dark Souls but still extremely fun.
