My Average Bot Lane Experience

If the enemy bot is squishy, too passive, and/or has no skill at dodging i know it works. If they have a good bot lane with some solid damage in laning phase and some hard engage, you are probably dead or playing a lot safer. Trust me -- i've played with an mf as leona and destroyed a brand support and his adc when they both built and played for kill lane. I was expecting to just survive till 6 and try to punish. Instead, we got 5 kills pre 6 before I died tower diving brand and getting mf the kill. Good hard engage followed up by solid damage from adc should destroy any poke lane. We saw it at worlds with tsm's jhin, nami into an alistar; tsm duo got wrecked hard in a lane they were "supposed to win". It's simply that the hard engage makes the fight a temporary 2v1 and if you focus their adc, they have a head start on damage to you or your adc due to their cc. Thus, you lose 1 person first, or you have to back that person off. While this is happening, it is 2v1 again and the tank can cc the other member. If you focus the tank, they don't care about your damage - you will die first. If they have a weak laner and you have a strong laning adc, sure you can punish. If not, a good enemy duo will just bide their time and blow you up or force you out of lane having burned your heals/exhausts/flashes.

As much as you want to keep max range, at some point in the game you will have people close the gap and attack you. When you do, luden's isn't worth anything compared to lich bane. And as I said, void staff would be the best choice -- unless you need the cdr; in which case my lich bane over luden's argument.
