A Snowdown Carol
It was Snowdown, a season of joy, fun, and Poro-Throwing. However, there was one champion who did not enjoy this season, or any season for that matter. It was an old lad who's name was Yorick.
A message for you Yorick!
Why should I take anything from you? You've been in the game longer than me, have an unchanged kit, and yet people play you far more than me!
Just, read it.
Dear Yorick,
Your rework has been scheduled to come out soon after Taric and Warwick, but it cannot be confirmed. However, it is more than likely your rework will come out sometime next year. Please be patient, as reworks take a long time make. It is possible it will become a Sion-level rework. Thank you for your patience.
Sincerely, Rito Games
Yorick thought for a minute. He was finally getting his rework. After 6 years, it will finally happen. But little did he know, he was going to get very special visits that night...
Alright then Warwick. Now off you go!
But-
Ba humbug!
Warwick left Yorick's home. Yorick sat beside the fireplace, pondering what his rework would be like. Then suddenly, a flash of dark, blue light. A shadowy figure stepped from the light.
Kalista?
Yorick Mory, if you do not embrace the spirit of this Snowdown, you will be visited by 3 ghosts. Each one will show you what has led up to where you are. An then, what will follow.
I'll just let Thresh deal with those ghosts.
Hrmphh!
Kalista faded back into the light.
Later that night, Yorick's door opened, and appeared a familiar face.
Come with me Yorick!
Morde? Is that you?
Of course it is? Who else would it be, fool?!
Mordekaiser forcefully grabbed Yorick, and dragged him through a portal. They arrived at Summoner's Rift, 4/1/2014.
URF Mode. I remember this!
Yes. In this mode where you wouldn't mana starve? And you had unlimited sustain due to low cool-downs? So your kit became very broken.
It was a better time. My pick-rate had rocketed up.
But after it was all over, you were forgotten, and left to collect dust once again.
Mordekaiser sent Yorick back through the portal.
So?
No matter what you do, you will never win me over!
Very well. You shall be visited a second ghost later tonight.
Yorick sat and waited for the second ghost. He arrived. A portal opened up, and a lantern came out of it.
"Oh for goodness sake, GRAB THE LANTERN!"
Yorick grabbed the lantern, and he was pulled through the portal. He arrived at match during this year's Snowdown.
See how much fun they are having? And look, Blue Team picked you!
Blue Team has 2 kills. Red has 47. Aaaand, Red just won.
Sure the team that picked you didn't win, but you got picked!
It doesn't matter! In every game I am actually picked in now, my team doesn't win, or I just feed. Even Maokai is picked more!
Thresh realized this wasn't going to change Yorick's mind. They went back through the portal.
You will be given one last visit. If that one won't change your mind, I doubt you will ever get reworked.
Yorick became a little frightened at that sentence. NEVER reworked? He waited for the last visit. He was visited by a few ghosts! Kalista lied?
You must come with us Yorick.
We need to show you something important.
Come quickly.
We will show you the way.
The four ghosts led Yorick among an illusionary path. It led to an old, broken down building. With a damaged sign that read: Rito Games
What??!!
Yes. Rito went bankrupt.
They were never able to release your rework.
And mine as well.
The worst part is, they never regretted nerfing us four into the ground.
No... No... NO... NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
Yorick woke up to himself shouting. He realized that if he didn't embrace the spirit of any season, he would never get reworked! Never! He treked to the Freljord. On his way there, he spotted Nunu.
Hello laddie!
Yorick? What are you doing out here?
Oh just walking buy. On my way to Snowdown!
Really?!
Yes! Yes indeed! Oh! And I have something I think you might like.
Yorick opened a very large satchel, and inside, was 85,000 gold.
For me?!
Yes laddie! Now go, and buy the biggest pile of AP items you can!
Thank you Yorick! I will never forget this.
And so, Yorick Mory was picked a lot more during this year's Snowdown. No matter how many games he lost, he did it, with a smile on his shadowed face.
The End
