I think it's because Ed's soul is still attached to his body. There's no additional exchange needed to keep it attached, it will mend in its own.

When Ed brought Alphonse back, he had to fetch then bind a disconnected soul to an object. He needed to exchange his arm to pay for the "finder's fee" and "glue" to bind the soul to the armor.
