Don't get why mid is so popular, it's the most paranoid lane to be in because you can get ganked from like 7 different angles. Also being in the middle of the map means its a priority to collapse on.

It's because as the game has changed over the seasons, it's become clear that mid is the one true "carry" role. And nobody really plays league because it's a team game.
