Support main, reporting in.
Most of us are still on strike until Kalista gets deleted.
I feel bad, but I have a rule where if it's kalista freeweek, I won't support. It's too painful.
The nice thing about Team Builder is you can dodge a Kalista with no penalties.
I think it's more of an issue with facing Kalista rather than being on a team with her.
Supporting for a Kalista is terrible because she can make you unable to do anything for a second whenever she feels like it, it is immensely frustrating if the Kalista isn't very good at timing it.
Hey at least you brought up a decent point opposed to other idiots. Kalista timing is important yes. Your teammate will screw up a lot if they aren't challenger. Expect it and don't judge people over it. Just like you can expect even competent junglers to miss smite. It happens. Don't put yourself on a pedastal like you're better (not Baron of Bread, YOU in general to people complaining). If you are in the same rank with the people you are complaining about, chances are you're no different.
Every people who are complaining about the champions you speak of; go play them for about 20 games and show us all your results. I'm looking at ALL of you who are complaining; your game info and history. They aren't good. I'm not good either but I'm not the one complaining like a child about something there isn't a point to complain about. There's nothing wrong with Kalista or Tahm Kench. It's the players behind those champions that's the problem. And you can only get different peers if you carry yourself up to higher rank. Until then, you can't put blame on anything except yourselves.
All pro LoL matches basically is about who makes less mistakes. You make 10 mistakes every 5 minutes in bronze or silver, about 2 of them gets capitalized and you can still win that game even with a 10k gold deficit. You make 1-2 mistake in high elo, very high chance it will snowball and cause you a loss even if you have 1k gold lead. In fact, most likely they will capitalize on that one mistake after 30 mintues of nonstop flawless mechanics.
Don't put yourself on a pedastal like you're better (not Baron of Bread
I guess I should go get a pedestal. :P
No, Kalista is awful to support for if you aren't duo with her. She repositions/suppresses you whenever she wants and you have absolutely no say in the matter. She's also a lot like
in that the people who play her tend to be whiny little shits and are either extremely good with her or complete trash with no middle ground (and the good ones are usually on the other team)
Tahm Kench does the same thing to adc's as a support. Only his is on a basic ability and he can throw you towards the enemy.
From my experience, Tahm doesn't screw his ADC the way Kalista can screw her support. Possibly because soloQ Tahms are often more concerned about eating enemies than allies
Typical boards circle jerk. All adc's are evil and screw over supports, while all supports are good and caring to their adc "master."
Bruh both abilities forcibly re position an ally. One is an ultimate and the other is a basic ability. One will never be able to control where you land, the other can. There is literally no reason to say "Support Kalista sucks because ult." When Tahm does the same to adc's more often and can actual put you in harms way.
I will gladly trade Tahm for Kalista. I hate the ability on both of them.
Also, I tend to notice the same YoloQ sentiment about Tahm. They rarely eat their own team - even when they should. Not really a "for" or "against" statement, but commonly observed.
Your opinions don't matter because you're terrible at the game.. Honestly. I tried giving you all a chance and reading it through but most of you are putting the blame on the champion. It's not anything WRONG with the champion. It's just that you're in the same rank with people that are so bad, the plays they try to make look like they are trolling.
Both Tahm and Kalista are great champions even if you aren't duo queued. The fact that you think you need to be duo to play these champs means you probably think you need to chat in order to cooperate in the game with your teammates. That's false. You don't need any of these things. You can just communicate fine with pings. You don't need to duo queue to play Kalista or Tahm well consistently even at a 80% win rate.
How about as a social experiment you record about 10-20 games of you playing Kalista and then show your results for KDA/post game info/etc and see how good it is before you talk? As for me and what gives me the right to talk to you like this? Well I admit I suck and I am continuously learning. And I'm in Plat. Doesn' tmake me good but I bet i can carry your account to Gold or Plat using troll pick champs like Katarina.
the main thing about these champs, is getting that feel as to when they are going to chuck you in there. That's hard without playing with someone, and now knowing how their mind works. Not blaming my teammates for some of the bad calls or the misreads, it's just the nature of working with complete strangers who have control of your character, even if it's just for a moment. Especially when both myself and my teammate being bads. I know I make dumb as s@#t calls, so does everyone, and mechanics are a pain (seriously, did you see some of those shaco moves in the all stars? Priceless.).
See I think you guys are full of it because you can also control Kalista's ult and you can even time it. As for Tahm Kench as well, you can also control at least where you get spit out.
Source for Kalista is horrible to support for? I get that it's a champion that is fully utilizing its potential as duo. But I've had plenty of games with Kalista I wasn't queued with nor did I even like their play style. We didn't synergize well together either. But we still had great games. Even bad games I never once thought Kalista is horrible to support for or anything.
Next, Kalista ult is a huge playmaker in that it is a better version of Thresh lantern but for support and you can make beast engages. I'm not putting YOU under scrutiny but the Kalista you are referring to are bronze players who probably aren't good and they don't know how to play her well. If you judge a champion about how good it is/how bad it is by how people play it in bronze or silver or even platinum, you're judging a champion wrong. You're not looking at its actual strengths and flaws. You're just basically complaining about how people in your rank simply aren't good at playing Kalista, and since you're her support and you're watching them make all the mistakes you might get the illusion that you are better than that adc.
As a support main for 2 seasons I certainly got that feeling myself supporting a lot of ADC's. But truth of the matter is the fact that carrying with support is easier. It has been easier since support got buffed season 3. Honestly, I could carry your account to Gold (MAYBE plat) using just Lee Sin support and my ADC could be afk. Not saying I would win 100% but it's doable for sure and it'll take someone like me less than a month (2 weeks maybe) to do it.
I'm not saying your low rank gives you no right to share your opinions. I'm just saying you should try looking at these champions for what they are; look at their kit, the type of build order they go and WHY they build that way. This way, even if you are bronze or even unranked or level 20, you can start theory-crafting champions on the same level as some Diamonds and pros. I see people in Plat and low Diamond who have trash mechanics but have good game knowledge, thus win games. Complaining about Kalista's ult? Really? I love it when my ADC picks Kalista even when I'm not duo'd. Just understand Kalista is extremely squishy, extremely vulnerable. Therefore you have to play around that.
I like your points of view, trying to help people see others points of view, but you lost a lot of respect from me for saying you could carry with a Lee Sin "Support". That's not a support. That's a kill lane. Your not supporting your ADC, you're pinning theirs down. Unless you have a different way of playing him that's actually supporting your ADC, which I would be glad to hear.
Why can't Lee Sin support? He has everything any other support has. He has poke, mobility, engage, shield, sustained fighting, slow soft CC, and his ult is a great disengage as well as forcing turret hugging champs away from safe zones. It's not IDEAL support I agree and it only works against weak early game or immobile ADC's but it works even if it isn't a kill lane. You guys gotta get more creative. After maining support for years, it's becoming clear you can support with just about any champ if you know how to use them clearly. It's just certain champs are more viable than others like Brand and Annie.
Hence why you play Bard or Tahm support, Kalista being an inconsiderate ADC? Lets see how she likes being frozen and left behind or being eaten and spat out behind enemy minions. I guarantee that Kalista will stop being so inconsiderate when they realize you have the ability to indirectly kill them fairly easily, that or they will AFK and the true Bard/Tahm carry will emerge.

I agree, especially Kalista during free week. I always get the "first time Kalista" player who doesn't actually know what the ult does. They just press it because they've been taught to press R whenever you're in a fight. I always know it'll be a bad game when I see the Kalista player standing completely still while farming minions, instead of hopping like you're supposed to.
Until Riot gives people a reason to support, it'll never be coveted by the community.
Thresh (and apparently Bard) are super fun to play
Bard is my main support tons of fun and relaxing when you go on chime runs

Getting mobi boots, picking up 5 chimes and pretending you're a racecar. MROOOOOOMMMM
I don't like Mobis, prefer lucidity so http://i3.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/658/456/c0c.gif
Don't worry Ruby. I'm combat READY! -Irelia from RWBY
's from RWBY?
Penny said that. Penny's fighting style reminds people of Irelia.
Bard is one of the few characters who's fun even if you're losing because you just go on a Magical Journey and you feel better about life.
Bard is just the best support to play. No champ is as fun as playing bard.
40-45% CDR Bard. Plays tag with enemy team for 60 seconds after lost team fight. Creates portal into allied team and proceeds to ace.
Always amazes me when people fall for this. XD
I'd say that being able to play
is a pretty good reason to support, personally.
Leona is really bad if she falls behind. All she offers is lockdown and durability, if her team is too weak to blow up someone during her CC and she is too far behind to get tanky items, she ends up being near-useless. At least Braum can stall sieges, Nautilus can waveclear sidelanes, and Blitz will always be useful with extreme displacement
I'm aware of what Leona does. I'm not making a statement about her balance, I'm merely stating that she's really enjoyable to play. Leona is easily one of the most viscerally satisfying champions in the game.
I'm just saying that any champion is going to be terrible to play id they often end up unable to do anything. Old Darius was technically fun as hell but in practice he was just the worst the moment he had to leave lane, hence he ended up being zero fun to play regardless of how visceral his kit was

Going ham even when behind is worth it. It's worth as long as you wack their adc with your shield. That's how you play leona. Even if you die, you must say "worth" or you're playing her wrong

You mean an actually balanced, not underpowered gold starved champion...
Where are you getting underpoweered gold starved champion? Support carries laning phase bot lane. You guys are supporting wrong if you're complaining like that. Supporting now is better than what it used to be pre season 3 when there were no support items.
pre season 3 when there were no support items.
Heart of Gold.
Heart of Gold gave you less gold than it does now overall. Also, Heart of Gold was an upgraded item from Ruby Crystal meaning you wouldn't get the GP item effect until your 2nd or sometimes your 3rd back. Next, Heart of Gold wasn't a support item. It was a tank item. If you had a weak early game tank or melee that had trouble farming, you took heart of gold to offset the amount of CS you would lose. This is why I mention stuff like your opinions not mattering in another post because your rank is low; because you don't even know what HoG was even for. I'm not saying low rank opinions don't matter; but they don't matter if you don't even know certain things. Shen and other tank top laners took Heart of Gold. Also, support were far more gold starved pre season 3. The new support items gave it a much EASIER way to carry support. This was actually a controversial debate where people argued they hated the new support items making bot lane imba. NOW, they are trying to implement MORE differences to support. I'm not welcoming all these changes but you're making a lot of claims that aren't true. HoG was more tank item than support. You took GP5 quints back then.
Also, look at the type of supports right now. More and more non support champs have been making the jump into LCS and pro games with the newly implemented support items and changes. How can you criticize Riot for not even trying when they have? Just to name a few since S3; Annie, Morg, Brand, Vel'koz, Trundle, Tahm Kench, Shen, Nautilus, Volibear during Warmogs OPdom.
HoG was more tank item than support.
It was commonly built on supports. That was my only point. There are other examples of support oriented items pre-S3, but heart of gold is more well known. Granted, the interpretation of "support item" has evolved slightly over time (mostly after they were given an income).
Just like before, you're taking my comment(s) as a jumping off point and putting words in my mouth.
As a support main, it's fun to know the least valued roll is the most needed. Muhahahahaha.
"I HOLD ALL THE POWER!!!!!!!!!!" -every support main in teambuilder, ever.
I actually hold very little power. What I do hold, is the clock. And that's much more valuable.
Mabey its because im still a novice playing this game but i still cant fathom why supports are the least valued yet, people are very willing to wait many minutes to find one, many times when i que up in TB as support, il hop into a room and people will be like "PLEASE STAY!!" "Dont leave please".
The big thing is the same reason why Healers are in such demand in MMO's, not big flashy plays, no damage numbers, a hell of a lot more to keep track of.
And then when you do finally find a support you get matched up against a 5-man premade
Take my main, click "join a team", think about whether I have time to... TEAM FOUND, check ready, game launched.
Being a support main sometimes has perks...
Main reporting in. I was practicing adc role when I got a Janna that didn't anything but press are twice. No wards, no slow, no shield, and when she would q she'd wait the entire duration before releasing it didn't hit a single q all game.
It is such a pain finding a support when I want to improve at another role when I'm not supporting.
