Interesting point of view and some people like the expansions after WotLK. It depends on who you ask really. I tend to look at sub numbers which started to decline after WotLK which is a very broad view I know but really the only one we have unless you want to get extremely subjective about it. Sub numbers are the only objective view we have of the situation.

Subs spiked at the beginning of WoD then dropped drastically over the next 6 months. I think both of our statements are true depending on how you look at it.
