supposedly it's because they're both outcasts, both warrior minded, and have similar personalities.

I like the majority of people believe J4 is better for Shyvana because he can make her grow unlike Riven who would cause a much slower growth out of her shell plus they'd both probably just stagnate or thirst for violence rather than move on.
