When Caitlyn gets fed

My wife likes to describe SAO as "babies first anime". Pretty pictures, good action, but a lot of other aspects fall short (particularly character development).

Attack on Titan is perhaps best described as an anime trying to show the realities of war. There's a lot of blood, gore, and violence, but all of it feels strictly focused on driving home the realities of war. It's a great anime, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it for someone just entering the genre.

Erased is really good, sort of a time traveling murder mystery that's both cute and suspenseful.

Full Metal Alchemist (either the original or Brotherhood, they're mostly the same until about half way through) is an anime that is a standard in the genre. If you're wandering in the memes and games boards frequently, I'd recommend watching it, as it shows up a decent amount.

if you like deeply depressing, extremely gory, and out of place humor than AoT is the show to watch. I have heard SAO but never watched it.

The fact you called anime (an art for refined for centuries and an entertainment form unique and native to Japan, made for all ages) cartoons (a mindless animated television show with themes meant for 3 year olds).
