No, it just happens that a Chinese company owns Riot, and they ordered Rito to replace all the existing skins with their Chinese versions (where they differed), which are in many cases much much worse (e.g. Musketeer Twisted Fate).

Even though they're far from perfect, in general, they were better than the crappy splash arts that there were before. They all need an update sooner or later, though.

I think we can all agree on that one. The old Musketeer TF was one of his coolest splash arts. I was just generalizing but there are indeed a couple of splash arts that got worse. I think about 20% of the ones that got changed there.

Like Asian art(even the cheap ones you see on those bad asian MMoRPG) easily surpassed the old ones. If Riot did a full overhaul and made new "updated" splash arts for all skins, those would probably look better.

But the artwork styles are different, so it's up to preference in most cases.
