When I do that, it means I want them to stay even if we'll take turret shots. There are perfectly good reasons to do this...
This all the time in ARAM when someone decided to ping to defend a tower, inhib, or nexus. Yeah, we know. It's not like there are any others to defend. Or to attack the same structures.
Or when an ally pings 'be careful' when you're one auto from dying inside their team deathball. Dafuq am I supposed to do?
I do that all that time when playing with friends, or target the enemy nexus and remind them it's a semi-important objective. Also one time I pinged my friend to ward a bush knowing full well the whole enemy team was in it. That amused me.
Maybe the ping isn't for you.
Maybe it's to try to get your teammates to take it too.
I think people who spam pings on a turret you're already attacking means:
"Take this tower down at all costs"
I think...'that's nice.' I'll decide if I attack that tower, since I know the situation in the area, I'm a better judge of if it's a good idea.
I might do it to make sure they stay and finish the tower, such as when there's 5 bot and top laner is pushing. Maybe not necessary, but doesn't hurt.
it means take the tower even if you have to die for it. I'll suicide for a tower, doesn't really bother me As long as its an inhib or nexus tower. otherwise nah.
I miss when you used to be able to attack ping the spawn lazer.
When theres 3 people surrounding me and ALREADY ATTACKING me, some idiot teamate pings "be careful" (yellow) No fucking shit i should be careful .
I've seen people spam pinging a tower because they were tanking it trying to kill it while the adc is under the tower with them still farming the minions rather than attacking the tower.

It's a mind game that gives them control. If you continue, they get to feel the power of telling you what to do. If you don't out of spite, you and they (and probably everyone else in the game) both know that you are doing something dumb. Either way, they win.

Feel you on this one, lol. I would keep pushing but I stop and tell them to not ping the obvious. Then get revenge by pinging their tower when their lane is mia. Hehe.
