Does the champion have to benefit from the trinity force in every way? Cause technically it would "work" on every champion. They just wouldn't get all the benefits from it. Like building the trinity on Aatrox or Tryndamere still "work" they just don't get anything from the mana portion of the trinity.

Well as Xerath you pretty much almost always want to be in the back firing your abilities for teamfights, and getting in auto attack range just for sheen procs can be very dangerous.
