The question is... can your monitor even project all those frames?

Personally, I have my game capped in relation to refresh rate of my display. It never drops even 0.1 frame below.

I said below 15 fps. I played on 5fps during teamfights during which i didn't use any skillshots or anything just aoe abilities that were guaranteed hits. There is NO WAY you got to Master like that.

Feels like it hasn't been tapped in a while, but the video-hardware geek in me is having a fit...So, the answer is no, all monitors are capped to their own refresh rates.

The majority of monitors are topped-off at a reasonable 60 Hz, the more higher-end ones (usually called gaming monitors) tend to be 144 Hz or somewhere around that (some argue that they can't see any difference at all, but that's another topic). While the game can technically get higher fps, the monitor itself can't actually display any higher than that, so if it's a 60 Hz rate, what you're getting isn't actually what's displaying, you're still actually looking at 60 FPS.

That's also why there's an option to cap the frame rate in the options menu. Toggling VSync does it, too, but that can potentially have both a performance and input-lag impact, so the option to simply cap the frame rate is there, should that simply feel more comfortable for you.

Ease off the defensive position, dude, I just wanted to clarify to those who were talking about getting >200 FPS. Wasn't attacking you or anything.

And yeah, "slowdown" has become synonymous with "lag" as of late. I'm not sure when that happened, but now it's sometimes difficult for me to understand which one they mean.

That makes sense too. For some time I was playing with a REALLY sucky graphics card. But now my games look so much better after upgrading to a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti (EVGA). Ah was so nice getting that upgrade.

Well... that laptop i was using broke. It was a i5, 6 GB RAM, 750 hard drive, with a integrated graphics card laptop, and it broke yesterday. My "new" desktop is a AMD something or other, 3gb ram, 500 hard drive comp running 2 FPS on the highest settings. i cry [zombie-nunu-tears]

Hmm are there stats anywhere on the percentage of players that use laptops vs desktops. I am curious. Would be more curious what cards most run compared to settings. But I suppose monitors always makes that difficult =/. Much harder to run 60fps at 4k for instance.
