I also play plenty of ramm, have had plenty of ramm vs yi matchups, and can tell that this is the case. An evenly level/fed rammus or even a slightly behind rammus would not be cut to shreds like that.

you can see the items he had jugger enchant and deadmans + a chain and cloth armor.
reaosn why i won the trade was levels + red smite i still had BorK as well. + i had ult up.
rammus losing to yi is a joke unless the rammus gets ahead of the yi or he has support.
yi does not lose to rammus 1v1 in most cases as yi's damage and healing will always outscale rammus defense given we they are = levels with = gold ( unless we are talking crit yi build as that meme isnt great vs tanks)
edit just to math out what he has vs me in that 1v1
i had just about 600~ hp with 10.8k with of gold in items
while rammus did have just under 7k worth of gold items he also had 2.6k HP
ive also played a lot of rammus's people think he is a direct counter to auto attack based champions. what everyone tends to forget is that its actually ADC's.
you know the people who dont....
have a way to bypass early armor ( minus leathality builds )
build early life steal
stack % damages
have a build in fuck your armor steroid.

1v1's don't always go Rammus' way as you've said, even if they're equal in lvl/gold. I'm typically ahead though in those games which is why I've 1v1'd successfully. Tends to happen if the ramm is ganking faster/ got off more successful ganks/counterganks.
When in teamfights with no stragglers (all are present at the time), it's a Rammus' wet dream for any auto attack champ to leap in so long as rammus is in his own team's backline to lock him down. (other champs that come to mind are jax and trynd)
That qss usage was on point in that vid, if the yi is able to time that so fast and no one provides any hard cc directly afterwards, then yeah we're kinda fucked lol. I often times build a 
as a failsafe in further helping my AD carries. Supports don't build it often enough nor is the support always a tank. I love the flexibility of it because you can always give it to your friendly top AD if there are duplicates. When I play with my brother who mains trynd, I give it to him quite often :D. Dude will not die lol.

In the scenerio in the original post the entire team was AD champs, meaning Rammus could easily go Thornmail + Frozen Heart/Randuin's which does a lot more against Master Yi than Dead Man's Plate. Anyway, I am going to defend the OP because it isn't about the 1 v 1 against Yi (although I do think that Rammus beats Yi in a 1v1 when even in gold and levels in the mid game). He was just explaining that the last pick rammus basically won the game for his team. Had he picked Elise or some other jungle option he might have had a more difficult time winning the game.

Jhin actually deals a lot of damage to everything if he uses a critbuild.
I confirmed this when i though my nearly fully tankbuilt jax with ulti would be able to endure a few autos from him with both of us having full build.
