They should have it spread to enemy champs if they are close enough after the initial target's death.
TBH, I'd just like to see NEW offensive Summoner Spells in general. But the likelihood of that isn't exactly a encouraging prospect.
Or just nerf

Make its duration increase by X if target is hit? (with a cap and a cd on how rapidly you can apply the duration increase).
