When I see my champs in LCS, I root against them.

I don't want them to nerf my guys.

Pretty much.

Me: "Sweet! I'm glad someone appreciates my champ!" Me 5 minutes later: "Come on, come on, get executed at gromp already..." Me 25 minutes later: "Crap they won."

This was me during my best days of Evelynn and, to some extent, Mordekaiser , who wasn't always banned for some time post-rework (and is very borderline unplayable now due to him being so hard to balance now with the duo-laning idea, like I have no idea what they're going to do with him but you get what I mean).

But I made up my own term for this, the Veigar Effect, the guy for whom it seemed the most prominent. A champ no one really paid much attention to until he was in LCS and doing super-well. Then everyone found out what he could do (even after the insanity that happened after he was...let's say touched-up, when his rage-cage got a delay and some other stuff got changed to make him more difficult) and everyone played him. Then he got nerfed rather hard, even though he hadn't been touched in quite a long time and I had heard absolutely no complaints about him until then, and his play rate wasn't particularly high. Hence, the Veigar Effect.

I once had a friend get the first 3 kills of the game as Vel'Koz during an invade. He was laning against Ahri. He lost that lane so hard it cost of the game single handedly. And while he isn't the best, it just goes to show that as long as snowbally assassins are in the game Vel'Koz will probably not be OP (unless they make his damage just ridiculous).

I mean, if you're gonna suck, you can make any champ look bad. I don't find Ahri an issue in an even lane, let alone when I get 3 kills early. I'm willing to chalk that one up to inexperience or a jungle camp over a champion problem.
