To be fair, if you are losing the first 10 minutes of a game, it isn't the Nasus's fault, he isn't an early game champ so trying to get him to move around early is foolish and its good on him to ignore it. I often laugh when 5-10 minutes into the game people cry to me for not moving as Nasus, but as soon as people start to group around 20 minutes, I am often enough of a force that the enemy has to focus me as a tank or I will kill at least someone single handedly.
If this is 20+minutes into the game and people are starting to focus hard on objectives and teamfights, then yes, him ignoring the team will now be a negative.
Also don't be surprised if he comes mid and takes farm as well, a good Nasus is always trying to find cs wherever he goes, if he goes mid to help, he no doubt will take some cs or the entire wave, if he goes back top, don't be surprised if he takes a good chunk of top half of jungle, if he goes bot, don't be surprised if he takes a wave or even takes the tower as well, a good Nasus will always be focusing more on raising his stacks above all. A bad one ignores his team while doing so.

Taking the wave mid when both mid-laners roam bottom does not count as helping!

Ive seen that happen. Ive also seen people flame that same nasus when he doesn't have alot of stacks. Damned if you do, damned if you don't
