Mission 3 as 2 players

Mission 3 in general seems to have a time limit assuming RNG doesnt screw you early. We got to 5 cards on the boss command line with 2 greens and the next boss turn drew 2 greens so it was GG.

Were we just not aggressive enough or do we need to be more accepting of damage? I had been trying to decrease boss damage output but it seems I need to be more open to taking damage and worry more about the command line build up. Obviously the command line ends the game but still.. some of the boss moves are vicious.

I think you are not agressive enough and you need to be more accepting of dmg.I fail the firts time too.The second time i just stay next to the boss and my friend just activate rune for me.It was pretty easy.

I would assume you were not aggressive enough and tried to avoid damage too much. It's worth to throw yourself in and take the retaliation if you can do some damage to the boss. It is also good to take Ziggs with you and take his hex-minefield schematic. It damages all targets standing on a rune field. So as long as one of the shields is down you can probably use this. Plus you can decide to take one damage and keep the card.

Wife and I beat it on the first try, but -literally- in the last second. Boss was at 2/2/3/2, and would have fired off the gglol in the next damage phase. Wife used all her commands to take down the red shield so I could blow a fuel tank in reaction to his first attack. The mission definitely has a maximum timer of ten rounds, but if RNG hates you, it can be over after round four.

You really have to think creatively on this one. Try to use damage to your advantage, use schematics that come online quickly, use the right abilities and, as others have said, be willing to take hits.

Near the end, the missus had scythe/cyclotron/2xmechstomp/2xripsaw. Her tactic was to hop between repair fields and runes while attacking him from a safe distance, with ripsaw doing most of the damage. Her tactic was better than mine, which was skewer/fuel tank based.

As the game says in the manual, the boss can't kill you by damaging you. You just need to be able to move onto rune spaces and attack. Don't necessarily worry too much about downing a shield and attacking it yourself in the same turn. If everyone is good about building out their command line with varying attack types you should be fine.

Also drafting is important, and card counting can help a little. there is a small chance you can get to the gg cannon through inevitable drafts but generally you have 5 turns before that is even feasible. What you experienced seems like bad shuffling to be honest. it's rather rare. In most cases you have like 8 or 9 turns.

don't underestimate the power of scythe, fuel tank, cyclotron and hexmatic aimbots. Flame spitter and ripsaw aren't bad options for attacking but your turn commands will help you stay in range while flipping rune switches and aimbots is the only damaging computery card. Just damage the boss as you move past him for more runes.
