Question about boss movement/attack.

The boss's base is a circle instead of a square, and 2x2. So when the boss moves 2 spaces, is that boss size spaces or board spaces? Essentially is he moving 4 spaces or 2?

Also, for the flame nova it damages all mechs within 4 spaces, does it include the spaces he is on? No diagram on that card.
