Mechs vs Minions

​Hey Everyone,

My name is Jonathan "Zonum" Munoz and I'm part of the team at Riot that created Mechs vs Minions.

As we worked on MvM it became clear there was a story surrounding these characters and their adventure we wanted to share.

To do this we brought in some voice actors from League of Legends to reprise their roles as the champions in MvM, which allowed us to craft a full fledged radioplay so you can listen to the game's story as you play!

Using the radioplay lets you follow the cast as you both progress through the campaign and provides narrative context for each mission (usually in the form of Ziggs wanting to blow something up).

Also keeping in mind board games can be played anywhere at anytime, we've constructed the radioplay so it can be used on most computers as well as mobile browsers!

This experience is totally optional and may not be for everyone. But we hope you find it as much fun as we had making it!

While we recommend listening to the radioplay while playing MvM, you can check it out now on the Mechs vs Minions website! But be warned, there are MAJOR SPOILERS about the campaign if you'd rather save the surprise for when you can play along!

I love what you did with this, now how do i download it something so i do not have to be online and can use at will?

Odds are i will not have my PC nearby when playing. Not everyone likes others touching their stuff.

Things like these need to be downloadable files that can be play on phone or mp player.

They are downloadable.

TLDL: Go to mission audio page => view source code => find mp3 links => download the files

Because there is no way in our gaming room to connect to Internet, I had to download the files. The main reason, why Riot didn't want people to download them is because there are some conditional texts and also win and lose texts, that you listen to, so you could easily mix them up and the web page is there to guide you and makes you play the audio files in a correct order. If they would like to make this whole experience offline, they would probably have to go for some app, which is a lot of extra work compared to a web page.

If you want to get the whole experience from a web page offline, you can of course download the page, but you also need to download the audio files extra and then rewrite the links in the source code of the web page, so that they link to the files in your device instead of the files online.

So if you can, you should probably use the web page, but in case you can't connect to Internet during a play like me, you can use the method described above to download the files or the web page.

That should not be required... I am savvy enough to do this but not to think of doing it. I hate programming and source code is dealing with programming just someone elses...

Riot should just have either an smart phone app that plays it or individual files easily available for laymen. Both would be nice

Hey Angry!

While we haven't ruled out the potential to download these files separately in one form or another in the future, we saw the website as providing a structured way to listen to these at the proper time in a given mission.

We made it compatible with mobile browsers so you can play it on the go wherever you are as long as you have internet access. Understand this may not always be the case though so thanks for calling out the want to be able to download these. Good feedback!

Will Radioplay tracks be available in more languages? I plan to play the games with my friends but they are not good with english comprehension!

Hey Yoichi, for now only english.

Similar to the actual board game, we'll be keeping an eye on demand for content like and determine if we'll put out additional languages.

Thank you for the answer! Hope there will still be copies available tomorrow so I can buy it, but judging from server issue's I'd be very surprised if it's not sold out already

That's amazing.

Some of the characters sound different. Did you get all the same voice actors or did you have to get substitutes for some?

We were able to get most of the voice actors we wanted from LoL though we had to substitute for some.

Random fact: the minion sounds are actually all voiced by rioters that worked on MvM.

Which ones were different? Just wondering if my "ears" were right. =)

And I know a lot of Rioters do voice over work. Glad to see you could include them there. Wonder if there are any easter eggs like some other sound work has (Gnar mentioning Jay Watford).
