@Riot, I wish you had never stated an opinion on pick order publicly.

I honestly hope the guy who decided to make that post about pick order trumping call order lost his job or worse. He single-handedly has ruined the game for hundreds of people. Maybe I'm incredibly unlucky, but way too often people in my games on one side or the other turn super toxic because of it. Giving the unccoperative players ANY ground to stand on was silly. I have no idea what you thought would happen. I fill almost every game, so I could care less who has priority. The problem is that far too often people lock in whatever they wanted to play because "Riot said I could". The ONLY sensible statement would have been neutrality while stating that teamwork was the right way. Just now I had a game where we had 0 chance of winning because skarner flipped out when fiddle picked jungle, because they picked at the same time and fiddle had no chat(also riot's fault). Skarner didn't even hover over his champion, didn't lock in till the timer was almost up. He then proceeds to run straight down mid for 20 minutes because that silly statement made him feel justified in feeding to ruin fiddle's game and make him lose.

On a seperate but related note, behaving like that should result in an instant perma ip ban. If you really want to improve a community, you have to crack down on people like that. Going out of your way to ruin someone's experience even once should not be tolerated at all.

tldr; Riot's statement on pickorder > call order should have never happened, and has caused tons of toxicity.

Riot is not responsible for assholes.

Also, try imagining somebody thinking to themselves "Man, I really want mid, and I have first pick, but without Riot's support I'm not certain I have the right to take it."

Pretty sure the people screwing you in champ select would still be instalocking trash if Riot hadn't made that announcement.

Riot's announcement can't fix trolls but it can help borderline disputes.

You've got to be kidding me. Pick order should be the way to go based off of simple common sense, they pick first, they decide what they play. The entire conversation is over right there.

How I understand it, even without that statement that skarner in the example would have been toxic anyway (because he decided 20+min of ruining everyone else's day was better than dodging) and Fiddle has to have a keyboard and therefore had access to the pre-game chat.

All in all, I fill as well so I'm not personally invested in the pick/call argument, but whether Riot made the statement or not, if someone is ahead of someone in pick order they can take the role they want either way. If someone asks for a role now, after the pick>call statement, they have just as much chance of getting the role in the time of Riot neutrality, because it's up to the person ahead of them. Yes one can have assholes ahead of them, and no, one may not be able to get their preferred role but imho if you're not prepared to play every role in draft/ranked then that's your own risk that should be recognized and respected.

tl;dr How is any of that Riot's fault and not the specific person who's causing the problem?

"Online interactions not rated by ESRB"

Means nobody can guarantee there won't be assholes on your game. Riot saying something that is already true doesn't create more assholes, it just gives you someone to blame when you see he assholes.

Also if you care so much, the team builder community is much better and there is no pick/call order because everyone gets what they want.
