Vi ult needs more counterplay.

I haven't seen anything that feels as unfair and unfun to play against since before Olaf was popular.

I don't understand the power allocation on this spell at all. Why does Vi need to be immune to CC during the effect? It already is a long range targetted knockup gapcloser, which is inherently extremely powerful. Then consider that she also has another long range gapcoser to get in range for ult.

I'm only aware of two counterplay options. Either you have immunity through Hourglass or some kind of untargetability effect on your champion kit, or you need to use a movement ability of your own to get outside the followup range of the enemy team and into the safety of your own, or a tower.

If you're currently being ganked or in a skirmish, you're out of luck. If you don't have a gapcloser or Flash is on cooldown, you're out of luck.

At the very least I feel you could turn the knockup into a stun so that tenacity and Cleanse affects it. But honestly I feel it needs to be blockable like Caitlyn ult, or Vi needs to not be CC immune for it to be a properly counterplayable ability.

She isnt immune, per say. It's just delayed. If you stun Vi mid ult, she can still feel the effects after shes done, if it hasnt timed out. Nevertheless, it is kind of frustrating to be ulted and have nothing to do about it, especially as an ADC.

I'm still waiting to see players baiting the Vi Ult. Flashes over walls into waiting teams, or dashes back into Thresh lanterns to pull her way away from her team and into danger.

It's just part of how Vi is balanced. Vi's ult is a MASSIVE initiation tool, but for the rest of her kit, it is pretty hard to actually initiate in a later game situation. She only has 3 spells including her ult and none of them have very good ratios, or at least those on the level of other bruisers, and it is relatively easy to kite her. The fact that the ult is GUARENTEED uncleansable CC is the reason you pick Vi. It is what she brings to the table over other brusers. She does less damage than Shyvana and doesn't have the sustain of Aatrox.

You are right identifying the proper counterplay. You stay with your team. Vi CANNOT dive into a team, since her team simply can't follow up fast enough for her not to instantly explode to your team, because Vi is not inherently tanky. As for being ganked by Vi earlier in the game, warding is the proper response. If your team has good warding it is very hard for Vi to pull off a gank, since you can see her charging up her Q, and that gives you an easy cue to retreat.

I definitely agree that Vi's ult is one of the most difficult things to deal with, but taking away her CC immunity is too drastic. Her ability to dunk people makes her feel strong and imapctful. If her ult could be stopped by a janna tornado, vi would not be viable for competitive use
