Season 4 general info and discussion

Alright so I've seen a lot of single threads posted about season 4. But they are scattered and often contain conflicting information. Also what few articles on season 4 are out all contain exactly the same information. So I wanted to create a thread of general information for both my own questions and others.

When is season 4 starting?
will it be immediately after season 3 or will there be a weeks-months long break between them?

What is exactly going to be changing?
Will the gameplay as a whole be greatly effected or will this be more of like multiple updates happening at once?
Will we see a visual change as in season 2-3?
Will champions be removed or new ones added?
Will items be removed or new ones added?
What have people heard/speculated will change in the meta?
What are peoples thought on these changes?

S4 is probably gonna start officially sometime in December/January. When this season ends next week we will see a bunch of patches that will start introducing all those preseason changes for all of us to play and test out. So look at all those posts in GD they have been making to see what is upcoming.

Visual change... eh probably not much I believe. Maybe a few things of the map changed but if you are thinking about like a whole new reworked map prob not.

I highly doubt they would remove champions. Possibly we will see a champ or two released during the preseason but looking at releases this past season....

Items will be added and removed and change no question about that.

I am looking forward to the ward changes and the jungle.

Pre-season will happen in between S3-S4 to test the major changes that happening between seasons. With S3 ending 11/11/13 we should see pre-S4 happen very shortly after.

What will be changed
General New gold balancing, turrets will give local (near it when destroyed) gold, Baron buff will be getting re-worked eventually, dragon will scale to late game

Jungle New mob, new monster scaling, new items, new effects on old items, new gold income possibilities

Vision Ward limits per person (currently 3 green, 1 pink), pinks can take 5 hits but are always visible (their price is reduced).

Champions general balance changes, utility spells will get coeffecients to the effects themselves. i.e. Janna shield's AD bonus has a +0.2AP bonus, Lulu's passive will have a +0.3AP bonus. (numbers are random not confirmed). New champs of course, champs will NEVER BE REMOVED from the game ever. at all. Will probably see a lot more VU's as well, Nasus has one coming!

Map Bushes are being worked with, with the intention of being able to get vision in each bush with a single ward

Items A lot of items will be getting new effects, mainly gold income items. New support and jungle items confirmed. and TRINKETS, a new item type with its own slot. These will be free and available from the start. 3 confirmed so far, all having to do with vision, 1 drops a ward, 1 is a CV clone, and another is a stealth detection and ward 'jammer'.

Summoner Spells CV and Revive will be removed, revive may come back later if a rework is found.

Runes new rune inc, possible examples include hybrid defense runes and rebalanced quints.

meta jungle will be hugely changed, new champs will be able to jungle. With the new rune discussion lvl 1 armor across the board has been called into question. It has been speculated that carry jungles will be viable. New support items also synergize amazingly with kill/damage lanes, so new viable supports will be coming (ashe anyone?). As a note as well, global passives have been almost completely killed off due to Janna's becoming short range and we will more than likely never see a champ with a global passive again.

Ideas for season 4 -based on video

Giving tower last hit gold - ok Trinkets - good change/dependent on cd restrictions Junglers - slow junglers still suffer, hugely!! w/o lane kills Support endgame - should be based on doing well not lvl 30 masteries Support teamfight-damage soaking mage: not ability scaling, but more on defensive passives will become more successful.. New jungle camp - good idea, making ganking more interesting!! Scaling monster - lvl’s: good idea, but what about afk’s! Yardwork - the point I feel of warding is where to do it, why make it easy? For young/new players? Keep the idea of working the brain strong don’t change the bushes, at least for warding purposes. Should be some type of surprises going since some champions rely on that. Tower destruction - champ killing tower should get more gold if, minions kill it, they should get less gold. Like 25g less not extensive but enough to make them think about it…. Minion worries after inhib goes down – not so much an issue. My point of view! Dragon – I like!!
