ELO system??

Bluues··1 votes·330 views

Alright so I've seen comments about the ELO system and am severely confused. So I understand the ranking system with bronze, silver, gold, etc having their 5 respective sub ranks. But Ive also seen posts about the ELO system and how it is 1 number where people talk about having 1200-1600 elo. I don't understand what that 1 number has to do with anything as league points are what move you up in rank correct?

Lolking your summoner name. It is an invisible # that affects lp gain/loss

how does it effect it? does a high number get you more LP or vice versa?

it depends on where you are. For instance say that you are in bronze but your mmr is in the range of plat players. As you win games you will gain a huge amount of LP because the system is trying to move you up to where your mmr will reflect the appropriate ranking.

Now using the same example let's say you are in bronze and your mmr is bronze. Well then the system thinks you are where you should be so your LP gains will be low. You have to make your mmr, "elo", go up by winning lots of games. This then makes the system give you more LP so you can climb

Yeah that's bullshit. I played 9 silver promos in a row, including being in several silver to gold promos. Trolled 3 games every time, and now being trolled down to bronze 2. It's nothing but luck.

How can you go back down to Bronze 2 if you've been in Promos to qualify for Gold? You can't drop Tiers (gold/silver/bronze/etc)?

Unless you just mean youre trolled down to play with bronze 2 players.

No I mean while doing my bronze to silver promos other people on my or the enemy team were doing their silver to gold series. That's how far out of step my MMR and ranking are. I was getting high silver/low gold people in the top slots.
