Imma just drop this here: Basic Strategy (part 1)

In general though, make sure you are at least comfortable in all roles. You don't have to be amazing, but it will always suck for you and your team if you're forced into a role where you don't know exactly what you're doing. I also have a set of guides for each role (mostly done) if you're interested there.

Other than that.....

  • diversify you champions
  • practice in Draft mode
  • Never keep playing after a loss streak, take a break instead
  • and...... http://i.imgur.com/mYgaV8H.png

Good luck and you have great day as well!

Getting better at the game will get ya better at ranked. It's that simple.

Some basic tips:

  • It's ok to have a "main role" you're most familiar with--I personally encourage it--but try to be familiar with every role and have at least 2 or 3 champions you can play per role.

  • Last hitting is a very valuable skill. Getting good at this is just a matter of practice, but it can be the difference between beating your opponent in items and being behind

  • Map awareness is also a very valuable skill. If you are wanting to go aggressive or push, be sure to glance at the map--if all lanes + jungle are on the map, you can go for it. If you glance at the map and see enemy mid walk towards your lane and not show up again, that's your cue to be cautious and watch for him.

  • Ward! I can't say this enough, but everybody should ward! This goes hand and hand with map awareness--it is so helpful when you know where the enemy is and where they'll come from. This can allow you to sneak dragon, counter-jungle, avoid ganks, pick off lone enemies and more.

Good luck!!

Practice makes perfect. Get better at the game, and you will climb.

To improve, there are LOADS of things to improve upon. Last hitting is one of the easier things to practice, and one of the core things required to climb.

Last hitting can be practiced in custom games. First just pick a champ and go to a lane and try to not miss a single CS.

http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Farming

At the bottom there is a chart for max CS.

Once you've started to get the hang of that, gradually increase difficulty of doing this. Add bots for distraction, pick a harder to farm with champion, do not use runes/masteries.

You can also focus on many different things like freezing, pushing etc.

IF you really have patience and REALLY want to improve I reccomend this youtube channel.

https://www.youtube.com/user/unswlolsoc

They explain pretty much ALL concepts of league IN DETAIL. It's university level lectures about the game. REALLY worthwhile to watch, REALLY educational, but they are very long as well.

I make a point in every game now to remind my teammates to just upgrade the yellow trinket. Its all you will need

If you get the stealth one, spam it as it has to die to be removed If you get the normal ward remember you can have 2 up for 20 seconds before the 1st dies and its a REAL WARD! :D

What I like to do is tell everyone to upgrade it and then upgrade it myself because it sends out a message that I purchased it. then I just point out that I did it.

just a few extra wards can really change the game

Also I have found great success in doing normal drafts to get used to the drafting system and the counter play interactions.

It will also get you inundated in the improbability of everything going your way such as your champ getting banned
