@riot Leona too OP after the buffs?

Hello, I don't know if it's just me, but I've personally always hated going against a team with a leona in it. But this season, she just seems WAY too strong with all the changes to the supports & it seems that riot has a thing for her now or something......& it might just be that her "Zenith Blade" will just go right through minions FOR SOME REASON. Why don't they nerf that....honestly...& my nerf, i mean have it so that it AT LEAST hits minions. If you think about it at this point she's a blitz 2.0

If you mean how Leona Zenith Blade E locks down champion even though it hits minions first, that's because her E specifically snares and pulls her to the last champion that it hits. It only deals damage and applies her passive to anything other than champions, but nothing more than that.

Also, since it pulls her to last champion in the skill shot, which has a static range, you can try and pull some counter play by moving right behind her target so Leona will be pulled to you and Shield of Daybreak Q stun will hit you instead of her intended target.

i.e.: Leona pops her Q (stun) and W (armor and MR buff) and sends her E (Zenith Blade) towards your ADC, except she does so at point blank range, meaning it will end up extending past her target. If you manage to get behind your ADC and on the opposite side of Leona , her E will pass your ADC and pull her to you instead, which auto-proc her Q stun, allowing your ADC to run free (but you might die depending on who you're playing as).

Unlikely that Leona Zenith Blade will be nerfed at all because:

  1. Projectile speed and casting animation are not instant and allows for dodge if your reaction is fast enough.
  2. Width is rather thin and can frequently be missed if you don't know her range.
  3. It forces her to go into the enemy team, where as Blitzcrank Rocket Grab does the opposite: forces a single target into his team, if it hits.

No offense, but it seems to me like you just need more practice counter play against an enemy Leona rather than her needing to be changed?

Also as Tomoyo mentioned it brings Leona to her enemy. This is not to say that Leona is balanced or not too strong this patch but I would not say that its the result that ability. Leona's engages are all in by nature and she will be destroyed by jungle pressure if she goes in at a bad time - how do you recommend escaping after you're 'free' e forward? Leona also does really poorly if she falls behind. Her melee, 0 escape nature (even, say Alister or Taric can somehow impede an enemy assassin from a distance) makes it difficult for her to roam around the map as safely as say, Annie, Janna, Sona, Zyra, Nami. Compared to Blitz who has the potential to grab the 20 kill enemy yi-kat-syndra-ori-vayne into your team, Leona Launches herself into that very same 20 kill enemy and THEIR team. Which of these is more likely to kill you or your enemy?

Leona and Blitz have very different strengths, and very different vulnerabilities.
