So what's the Skinny on Heimer's New Ult?

I'm not a big heimer player, so I hoped someone could fill me in. What are the optimal use cases for his ult?

So far, i just always ult q for the mega turret 'cus it's awesome and fun. Which ult skills are the best? and are there clear situational factors that you would use one over the others?

Let me know your thoughts and experience!

I posted this thread in GD of normal forums too, and there was some discussion on how much dmg the ult turret does. I did some number crunching for optimal scenarios which I think is interesting:

turret auto attack:

90/110/130 + (.33*ap) per hit

8s duration with 1.05 AS means 8 attacks (assuming targets in range for full duration)

total possible: 720/880/1040 + (2.64*ap)

Beam attack:

225/300/375 + (.8*ap) per target per hit

has half of the 12s base cooldown of the normal turret so 6s cooldown means 2 fires in the 8s duration

total possible (per target hit, pre CDR): 450/600/750 + (1.6*ap)

but the cooldown is affected by cdr, so with max 40% cdr, 6s goes to 3.6s and gives a max of 3 beam shots. (assuming 1 beam fires instantly on placing, the CDR cut off point for still getting 3 shots in the 8s duration is 33.333%, we'll say 34%). So:

total possible (per target hit, with >=34% CDR):

675/900/1125 + (2.4*ap)

So the total max possible single target damage over the 8s duration is:

1395/1780/2165 + (5.04*ap)

which averages in DPS to:

174/222/271 + (.63*ap) dps

Of course this is all just math and how it actually plays out situationally will be different, but even looking at the dps, that's pretty repsectable. Compare to fiddle's max drain at 180 + (.45ap) or malzahar's ult at 100/160/220 + (.52AP).

And that's if the beam only hits one target. if you want to talk about a modest dream scenario where say you are in a team fight and all 3 beam shots hit say 3 people, the damage comes out to:

2745/3580/4415 + (9.84*ap) total multi-target dmg delt

or in dps:

343/447/552 + (1.23*ap) average multi-target DPS delt

Like I said, this is all theoretical. Don't know how much it means, but those be some crazy numbers!

Basically, having played a bit of him since the rework, his ult ultimately provides utility much like Karma's ult. Each one of his ult moves is tremendously useful given the correct situation. The situations are as follows:

Giant turret: This is most useful during teamfights or when you have all three other turrets around you. The fourth turret you get will absolutely melt whoever is unlucky enough to walk into this little trap. It's great against ganks, and it's good against players who facecheck often. It's also wonderful in teamfights because most people don't realize how much damage that thing is putting out, and the slow it provides adds more ability for your teammates to secure the kill.

Missile barrage: This is Heimer's new and improved kill potential move. Basically, in my opinion it's what makes him VIABLE again. Use this move when your enemy is unable to dodge it, and fire away when they are lower than half health. This is what makes him so powerful in mid lane, because he's able to destroy squishy champions. What's better is that the damage on it seems to scale with his ult, which means that it'll still do a lot of damage, even if you only have one point in W.

Bouncy Grenade: Most useful in teamfights and escaping from enemies. Congratulations Heimer, you're not a support. You can lock down the entire enemy team by just lobbing one of these babies into their ranks. Even if they try to run, the bouncing will either slow them or stun them. This is excellent if your team is having a hard time and things are looking grim in a particular teamfight, or if you want to catch somebody out of position and dominate them. Further, let's say that you're the person who gets caught out in a gank. While it's not the best method in the world to escape with (about a fifty fifty shot), this bouncy grenade might just be your best friend while you run to a turret to safety.

Hope this helps! :D

A lot of people are claiming that heimer is op right now, but actually i think his rework is fantastic. It gives him the ability to be viable in today's meta, which is simply fantastic!
