Why is Fiddle Support allowed to exist?

Seriously, 3 second fear (or even 2 seconds of fear) from Fiddlesticks combined with his silence (making it impossible to escape) means that Fiddle basically has more in his kit than most supports. He outclasses Taric at his own game, he outclasses Sona in CC (and in damage, once he starts putting points in Dark Wind) and he outclasses both Nami and Thresh at both damage and chained CC. The only way to fight back is to A) Bring cleanse B)Buy a item 3140 as your 1st/2nd item C) Don't get near him ever (because if he isn't cc-ed during a fight the entire time, then he will use fear immediately and basically make the trade a negative for you.

Its like old, pre-nerf Blitzcrank , either you stay away or you die

The solution, my dear Watson, would be to nerf Fiddle's suite of CC, but lower his ult CD, and increase the damage per tick on his Drain

Sooooo.... how would this be any different if it was APC Fiddle in bot lane? Or in mid lane? How is this much different than running two carries in bot lane? Don't treat him as a support treat him as a threat. We already saw the death of AP Mid Zyra because of this type of response. Just because you throw a second carry in bot lane doesn't mean they should be instanerfed because they outclass your support, it means you change your playstyle. Which is NOT a bad thing, it's how we change the meta and it how the meta solidifies.

He's not that OP. He lacks the mobility of most supports you've mentioned above. Also, if a Fiddle is picked, it is only natural to build some CC negation like item 3140, item 3222 or summoner 1.

He doesn't have Nami's disengage, Sona's overall utility or those epic BlitzcrankThresh grabs.

In short, mobility is his weakness, and Fiddle's enemies should use it against him. Anyways, when your lane goes not so well as Fid, you're just useful for your fear, and that's if you reach the champion that you should fear. If your lane goes well, however, you can get some pretty good damage, unlike the other champions mentioned above. His fear is short range enough to be predictable.

Okay, I really have to ask. If you're playing ranked and you notice that the lineup is indicative of a Fiddlesticks Support, is there anything wrong with picking up cleanse?

What I'm guessing is that you can't roll flash+ignite alongside cleanse, and to a lot of players there is nothing worse than a game without flash ignite.

If I notice the team is packing a ton of CC I usually go with Ghost/Flash + Cleanse instead.

i can't say i agree. fiddle support is not insurmountable. and i don't really understand your statement on taric being outclassed at his own game. can you clarify this? because they have a very different game play.

the issues i've had with fiddle support is that people don't know how to play against him. he can get bursted down by a leona snare or a blitzcrank hook combo. yeah he's tough to play against pre 6 but his fear is relatively short ranged and he's really squishy. he has an advantage early in the game and falls off hard without items.

that said, he will be stronger in the coming season with the support gold changes and vision changes
