Team "Fun" Discussion

Hello community,

So I've recently seen a raise in frequency in what we like to call "troll" games. I usually have a large pool of friends online to pool from and we have a tendency to play as premades for normals (we are just to uncoordinated to play in ranked at the moment). During this time we are practicing our team coordination to see if we can eventually get into forming a ranked team. Someday...

So, anyway, we've recently. Seen a rise in these troll game premades that don't seem to actually want to play. The enemy team will actually just roam around the map not farming or trying to gain levels or any sort of advantage. We'll end up killing them over and over as we gain levels and cash and they stay at level 1. Now I'm not talking about cheese tactics (to me those are considered fair games); I'm talking about no duo jungle or no protect the Vayne, no 2:1:2 or 5 minute inhibs, no anything. I'm talking just nothing with no tactics whatsoever. What else can we do except kill them repeatedly. Sigh...

Every one on my team decided to report the enemy team for unsportsmanlike behavior. What else were we supposed to do? Anyway, community, my question to you is, what is the right thing to do in this situation. Report or don't report? In this case our team talked about it through Skype at the end match screen and we ultimately decided to report them. What is the right thing to do, though?

Now I understand both sides of the situation, which is why I'm asking what the community view may be on the topic. In one case, yes the game is just a game and the enemy team was just having fun with said game. But on the other hand, we were playing normals, not custom and when we queued up for that game we expected an actual competitive game with the thought of winning or losing against fair odds in mind.

As I had said before, we ultimately decided to report them all because we were playing to practice in normals to win fairly and we had felt that the enemy team had simply wasted our time. What would you have done?

honestly its more of a ethical decision at that point. They were just having fun or whatever really don't think you should've reported them.

Well of course they were having fun... But weren't we also trying to have fun as well? So we are forced into a boring game without rhyme or reason because they wanted to waste what little time my team may have had to practice together for the day, because the enemy team wished to "have fun." Understandable. But didn't my team have a right to an enjoyable and fair match, too? I'm not saying that it's wrong or right. Truly it has a lot to do with ethics. But...

Think about it. It's not such an easy decision to make. One game or so, sure, you wouldn't care and the obvious decision would be to not do anything, but the truth is, after a decent amount of games that waste your time for no reason would you still stay firm on your decision? Do you prefer to have your enjoyment of the game at the mercy of someone else? And if so, why are you playing then?

With all due respect, I'm not saying that your decision is wrong but I can't help but remain a skeptic to how you've reached your conclusion without proper reasoning to back it up, simply because it was a tough decision that our team came to agree upon. Besides, just because a case is sent to the tribunal doesn't make it a guilty one. We were adamant about explaining what happened in the match the way I did; with what we believed was both sides of the story.

So keep in mind, such a simple answer of what you'd do or wouldn't do just simply isn't enough without a why attached. There's just not enough backbone to it. And as far as my decision. I gave my reasoning behind it, so I expect to at least not be judged, what's your reasoning?

Im not judging you in any way Im just stating what I would've done, I mean its just easy kills and farming alot And their just acting to be really really bad and that's not breaking any of the summoner's code.

I see what you mean. I guess it's kind of like if someone bought the Mona Lisa and decided to deface it. Not a crime per say, but I guess it would suck. Random.

Okay, I have some interesting views about this.

Personally, in a normal match, I've learned that almost anything goes. The point of playing normals is for practice, not for sport. While the sporty element is still in normals, it's not a competitive environment.

I almost never report somebody for doing something that I disasgree with. If they pick poppy support, who the hell am I to judge? I just hope to god that they do well in game.

That's a normal environment for you. I also disagree with you that it's a troll tactic.

Sure it's unusual, and sure it's probably not well thought out, but at the same time the meta that we have now for League of Legends has not been around forever, and most of the tactics that we use today and consider "meta" today was probably considered "trolling" by somebody about a year ago.

Long story short, I disagree that the report was valid. The meta we have is constantly changing on a day-to-day basis. Without these changes, the game would become stale and stagnant. If your team didn't have any fun, I'm sorry and shit happens, but there are other games out there and you shouldn't let the fact that it just wasn't any fun for YOU get in the way of your overall experience.
